What To Watch On Netflix & Disney+ for Tweens/Teens!

Hey daydreamers! Being thirteen is a really annoying age to be when browsing Netflix. 😛 Everything’s either too young and cheesy, or too old and inappropriate. I’ve been obsessed with quite a few shows recently, so I decided to compile a list of my favorite Netflix/Disney+ shows so that y’all could find something to watch! 🙂

Before we get started, I just wanted to announce that WE REACHED 300 FOLLOWERS! Ahhh, I can’t believe that so many of you actually voluntarily read and enjoy my posts, and I’m SO GRATEFUL for all of you daydreamers! ❤ LOVE YOU GUYS!

Alright, let’s get into the post now! 😉 All the images I edited are from Google.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

Where to watch: Disney+

Age: 12+

I’m obsessed with this show right now, haha! I just finished the first season, and Nini and Ricky are everything! It follows the story of a group of theater kids that go to East High where the original High School Musical movies were shot and are putting on a production of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. I started it awhile ago and for some reason never finished, but I tried it again after listening to Driver’s License by Olivia Rodrigo and loved it! Content: A character has two moms, two boys “like” each other, and a swear word is bleeped out. But otherwise it’s pretty clean and a super interesting show!

On Pointe

Where to watch: Disney+

Age: Anyone 🙂

This one is a docuseries about the students at the School of American Ballet as they prepare for the Nutcracker, and I really enjoyed it! If you’re a dancer, you’ll definitely relate to this and feel super inspired. It definitely inspired me to stretch whenever I watched it, and it made me want to work harder at dance. And if you’re not a dancer, it’s a really interesting look into the world of ballet, which I feel like a lot of people aren’t super familiar with. Content: I can’t really remember anything bad, so this one’s pretty appropriate!

The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia

Where to watch: Netflix

Age: 12+

This show is a fun one to chill out with after a long day, and it’s pretty funny! It’s about a teenage genius who moves in with her uncle to work for NASA, and she navigates friendship, love, and drama along with her new job. Content: A little bit of romance but nothing inappropriate.

CHEER

Where to watch: Netflix

Age: 13 or 14+

This one is a docuseries about the national champion cheer team at Navarro Community College in Corsicana, Texas. All of these athletes come from very different backgrounds, and each of them share how cheer has saved them with the help of their coach, Monica. If you think cheerleading is just about pom-poms, definitely watch this because it shows how incredibly hard, dangerous, and athletic cheer is! Content: If you’re a tween or younger teen, I would definitely watch this with your parents. I watched this with my mom when I was 12, and there was some bad language and some pretty heavy topics were discussed. Although it’s mature, it’s definitely a captivating series you’ll want to binge-watch, so check with your parents first and probably watch it with them!

Where to watch: Netflix

Ages: Middle-school-age would probably be interested, but it’s appropriate for an elementary-age kid to watch too!

This is one of my all-time favorite Netflix shows!! It’s about two best friends, and one of them is diagnosed with cancer. Together they navigate high school, and there’s a lot of dramatic, funny, and sweet moments throughout. This is a perfect show for tweens, and it’s definitely rewatch-worthy! Content: None.

The Babysitter’s Club

Where to watch: Netflix

Age: 11+

I love the Baby-sitter’s Club graphic novels, so I was really excited when I heard they were making the original books into a Netflix series! It’s about a group of friends who start their own business and deal with school, life, family, and crushes. My favorite is definitely Stacey, because we’re pretty similar! Content: There is one episode where a little boy is trying to be a girl. Other than that, it’s a great show about friendship!

WandaVision

Where to watch: Disney+

Age: Any

This one is currently coming out on Disney+, and it’s sooo good! If you’re a Marvel fan, than this a really interesting show. It’s exactly like watching an old rerun of a 50s show, but you’ll notice in the episodes that time is slowly moving forward. Things are contradicting themselves, there are random things out of place, and something strange keeps happening…it definitely keeps you on your toes and I’m excited to see how it ends! This is a great show to watch with your family, too. Content: Not anything so far.

I hope that you enjoyed this post and that you found something new to watch! Sorry this is up a little later in the day, this week has been super stressful and a lot of stuff happened, so I’m actually writing this today. 🙂

Also, since I’m nearing the anniversary of my Type One Diabetes diagnosis, I thought that my next post could be about diabetes. I’m thinking of doing a “What’s In My Diabetes Bag” with a diabetes q&a. In order to do that, though, I need y’alls questions! You can leave any questions you have about Type One in the comments below. It can be about anything – what it’s like to be a diabetic, what it is, my diagnosis, etc. Looking forward to your questions! 😉

The shoutout of the week goes to… Kaycee! Thanks for following!

Love you guys, and I’ll see you next week! Thanks again for 300 followers and don’t forget to leave your questions in the comments! Bye!

Have you seen any of these shows? Which one looks the most interesting? What are your questions about Type One Diabetes?

  1. I totally get that! Being 13 is really annoying when your trying to find something to watch 😂 I am 13 also! Why does everything have to be about kissing and romance? Someone answer my questions!!!! Lol sorry about that little bit of craziness there XD and I do have a question. How do you know if your diabetic? I might be but I’m not sure. It runs in my family. Awesome post! And congrats on 300 followers!!

    1. Haha! I think that a love story can be entertaining sometimes, but everyone likes different stuff 😛 I agree, though, sometimes they overdo it!
I was planning on answering questions in the post, but if you think that you might have diabetes you should talk to your parents or a doctor as soon as possible. For Type 1 diabetes, symptoms usually are extreme hunger and thirst (drinking a lot of water + eating and not being full), losing a lot of weight quickly, fatigue, and going to the bathroom a lot. I’m sure about Type 2 diabetes, though, so that’s different. Hope you’re okay!
      Thank you!

  2. Nice post!😁 I’ve seen most of those shows. Congrats on 300 followers!🎉

My question is the same as Shanessa’s. How do you know your diabetic? I’m not copying you, Shanessa!😊 I just had the same question.😉

  4. Thanks for this awesome post! I am totally obsessed with Alexa and Katie, and I loved watching On Pointe even though I don’t dance. I’ve seen a bit of WandaVision too. I’ll definitely check out some of your recommendations! 🙂 What’s the hardest part of having Type One Diabetes?

  5. Good post. Ikr?! It’s so hard to find good shows! I’ve been waiting for Wanda vision!!! I have a question for you about diabetes. What do you do when you blood sugar goes down and you don’t have anything to help it back up again?

  6. I think any age where you don’t want to watch a “little kids show” or something innapropriate is hard.
WandaVision is a great choice! I also love the other Marvel TV shows (Agent Carter, Agent’s of SHIELD, and Inhumans). They aren’t super innappropriate, but I probably wouldn’t recommend them to anyone under 13. But that just depends really. A great show for all ages is Avatar The Last Airbender.

      1. Agents of SHIELD is incredible! It has a bit of content, but not really anything more than a Marvel movie. Also, while it ties into the movies a little, you don’t need to have seen them to watch.

  7. Oh dear, I can’t even decide if this is an embarrassing or proud moment for me because I’m 16 and you seriously just named all my favourite TV shows there! The best part about these shows is you can watch them together with your friends and family (just how Alexa and Katie’s families have movie nights)!!
