March Playlist & Aesthetics (Ft. Free Phone Wallpapers!)

Hey daydreamers! Can you believe that it’s March already?? A year ago this month, the world shut down, which is crazy to think about how everything’s been going on for so long. I had kind of a slump when it came to covid last month, but it feels like things are looking up now, which is super exciting.

Back in January I did a similar post to this where I shared a playlist filled with some of my favorite songs at the moment and a collage that matched the mood/aesthetic of the month and playlist. I liked that post so much that I ending up making playlists for February and March too! I thought I’d share the March playlist for this week’s post, along with an aesthetic collage that reflects the transition from winter to spring and contains a little motivation for your weekend. 🙂

I actually use Apple Music for listening to music, but a follower had an awesome idea to create a Spotify account to share the playlists so I don’t expose my Apple ID! So I kidnapped my mom’s Spotify account (with permission lol), so y’all can listen to the playlist on there. Oh, and I don’t own any of these pictures: they’re all from Pinterest. Let’s get into it!

[link to the playlist in case the embed thingy isn’t working]

I know that I literally say this in every single post, but this post was seriously so fun to make! It was super relaxing to curate the collage, and I’m lowkey obsessed with this playlist. Let me know some of your current favorite songs, because I listen to my monthly playlists 24/7 and love making them longer with new music I haven’t heard before!

Also, if you want to save any of these pins, check out my (recently updated) Pinterest account! Is anyone else excited about the new month?

THIS WEEK’S SHOUTOUT GOES TO Maggie Bryan from the nightingale! Her blog is amazing and she came up with the awesome idea to make a spotify playlist. Thank you so much for commenting!

What do you think of the playlist? Excited for the new month? Have you listened to any of these songs? Any music recommendations?

PS – I almost forgot, I turned the collage into a phone wallpaper as well! Feel free to use these on your phone but please give credit if you share. Thanks!

A Cozy January Playlist + Aesthetics

Hey daydreamers! Before the regularly scheduled post, I have a few super fast announcements to make. 🙂

First, if you’re in the reader, I redesigned the blog a little bit! I thought it would be fun to freshen up the fonts and graphics a lil’ bit for 2021, and I’m super happy with it! If you’re in the reader, you can click here to check it out 😉 Also, I redid my Pinterest account to match the new blog design, so make sure you’re following that as well.

I also thought it would be fun to do a follower shoutout at the end of each post, so I’ll be picking someone from the comments of last week’s post to link to their blog or mention their name! Okay, props to you if you actually read that, and now we’ll get into the post XD.

Reacting to the Evermore Album: Part 2 (Blogmas Day 7)

Day 1: Nutcracker Recap

Day 2: Playlist Swap

Day 3: Blog Spotlight

Day 4: Christmas Outfits

Day 5: Nail Inspo

Day 6: Evermore Reaction, Pt. 1

Hey daydreamers! GUYS, CHRISTMAS IS SO CLOSE!! *runs around screaming Deck the Halls* I’m back for part 2 of my evermore review/reaction! I’m going to be tackling the last of the songs on the album. Let’s get right into it!

coney island

“i’m on a bench in coney island / wondering where did my baby go? / the fast times, the bright lights, the merry go / sorry for not making you my centerfold.”

This one has a grey-skies kind of feeling for some reason? It has that forlorn, wistful feel, and it’s filled with the amazing vocals from Taylor and the National. The lyrics are sad and regretful – “did i close my fist around something delicate / did i shatter you?” Once again, this one isn’t my favorite one, but it’s so beautiful and haunting that it’s definitely up there!

“ooh, i can’t, stop you putting roots in my dreamland / my house of stone, your ivy grows / and now i’m covered in you.”

For a little bit, this song was my favorite one on the album, but I think I’ve changed it to willow. I still do really like the tune, and it’s really catchy. I like how it’s a little more upbeat, and it’s really pretty.

cowboy like me

“takes one to know one / you’re a cowboy like me / never wanted love, just a fancy car.”

This one has a country feel to it, which I like! It’s a chill kind of song that I would put on while doing a face mask or blogging. “and you asked me to dance / but i said, “dancing is a dangerous game” is another favorite lyric!

long story short

“and i fell from the pedestal / right down the rabbit whole / long story short it was a bad time”

For some reason, the tune from this one reminds me of the last great american dynasty from folklore. It also has an Alice and Wonderland feel for some reason? I like the tune of this one, it’s a happier one with amazing lyrics. I definitely like other ones better, though.

“what died didn’t stay dead / what died didn’t stay dead / you’re alive, you’re alive in my head”

This one I was really confused about at first, but then I figured out that Marjorie is Taylor’s grandmother, and everything made sense. XD I really like listening to this one, and it’s such a sweet tribute to her grandmother!

“yes, i got your letter / yes, i’m doing better / i know that it’s over / i don’t need your closure.”

This one is not the most memorable one on the album – to be honest, I kind of forgot about it? I’m not a huge fan of the instrument at the beginning, I don’t know how to describe it lol. I don’t really like how they added the effects to some of her vocals, either. Other than that, I really like the lyrics for this one.

“and i couldn’t be sure / i had a feeling so peculiar / that this pain would be for / evermore.”

When I saw that this song was featuring Bon Iver, I was really hoping for a sequel to exile. Even though it isn’t, this title track is a really calm and pretty way to finish off the album. It is a little sleepy, but the vocals are so amazing and it has such a cool meaning! I love the lyric change at the end to “i had a feeling so peculiar / that this pain wouldn’t be for / evermore.” The harmonies are also really pretty.

Overall thoughts: I really like the evermore album, and I think it was an awesome surprise for her fans during a lonely winter! However, I definitely prefer folklore to this one. The other album had stronger songs as a whole, but evermore had a few really good songs and the rest sounded very similar to each other.

What do you think? Did you prefer evermore or folklore? What’s your favorite song from each album?

See y’all tommorow!

Reacting to the Evermore Album: Part 1 (Blogmas Day 6)

Day 1: Nutcracker Recap

Day 2: Playlist Swap

Day 3: Blog Spotlight

Day 4: Christmas Outfits

Day 5: Nail Inspo

Hey daydreamers! Ahhh, how is it possible that we’re already halfway through Blogmas?! I can’t believe we’re so close to Christmas! This post isn’t very Christmas-y, but I hope you enjoy it anyway 🙂

I’ve been a Taylor Swift fan since, like, forever, and like everyone else, I was so surprised when she dropped Evermore last week! I thought it would be fun to listen to each song and share my thoughts on every one. This isn’t my first time listening to it (haha, I’ve listened to it a ton!) but this will be interesting! I’m also listening to the clean version, and I’m going to do the first few songs today and the rest tomorrow. Let’s get into it!

“life was a willow and it bent right to your wind…”

This one is definitely a standout on the album, and I really like this one! It’s sleepy and mysterious, just like a willow tree. I didn’t really like the music video, but I loved this song and it keeps getting stuck in my head haha. It does get a bit repetitive at the end, but the melody is so beautiful it definitely makes up for it! This one might be my favorite.

champagne problems

“because i dropped your hand while dancing / left you out there standing / crestfallen on the landing / champagne problems”

I thought I wouldn’t like this one (mainly because the title included champagne), but this one’s giving me this is me trying vibes. The piano melody is really simple but pretty, and I like how the lyrics tell a vivid story. I really like the bridge: “but you’ll find the real thing instead / she’ll patch up your tapestry that i shred.” At first I was confused what it meant, but I read something that it was about a relationship where one is planning to end it and one brought a ring. This one isn’t my favorite, but it’s a really cool song that I liked a lot.

gold rush

“i don’t like that falling feels like flying ’till the bone crush / everybody wants you / but i don’t like a gold rush.”

This one kind of sounds the same as the other ones, but it’s; a little more upbeat. I really like the lyrics to this one, and it’s pretty catchy! I like the nod to her other album: “my mind turns your life into folklore”. This one was my favorite for a little bit, but it keeps changing haha.

’tis the [darn] season

and wonder about the only soul who can tell which smiles I’m faking / and the heart i know i’m breaking is my own.

Okay, this one is one of my least favorites just because it has a word I don’t like in the title, and it’s a little bit mature. Most of the time I skip this one, but it’s actually really catchy haha. It’s about the same girl from a later song, dorothea, which I didn’t make that connection before and now it all makes sense, lol!

tolerate it

“tell me I’ve got it wrong somehow / i know my love should be celebrated / but you tolerate it.”

As all Taylor Swift fans know, track 5 is always the most vulnerable song on the album, and this one is no exception. This song is really beautiful, yet sad and melancholy, about giving someone unconditional love but all they do in return is tolerate it. The last part is my favorite, when she starts wondering about what would happen if she left the relationship, but it’s really sad when she ultimately doesn’t. This one’s kind of a downer to listen to, but it tells one of the best stories for sure!

no body, no crime

i think he did it, but i just can’t prove it…

Okay, when I first listened to this song, I did NOT like it. I thought it was really weird, and was super confused about what it was. I still don’t like this one that much, but it’s kind of growing on me. My mom likes it because it tells a story like an old country song, and I kind of agree. Still not my favorite, but I like it a little better than before as I”m listening to it before.

“there’ll be happiness after you / but there was happiness because of you / both of these things can be true.”

This is another one that I’m not the biggest fan of. Although the lyrics are pretty cool, the melody is kind of boring, and the background music is really sleepy. It’s the kind of song that you turn on and walk away from and do something else. The line “when a good man hurts you / and you know you hurt him too” is really good. This one is also pretty long.

“hey dorothea, do you ever stop and think about me?”

I like this one! It’s got a fun, playful tune that reminds me a lot of Betty. Like I said above, it’s about the same girl in ’tis the [darn] season, and it’s not my favorite but not my least favorite. 😀 My favorite part is “It’s never too late to come back to my side / the stars in your eyes / shined brighter in Tupelo / and if you’re ever tired of being known for who you know / you know, you’ll always know me.”

That’s all I’m going to be reacting to today! I hope that this was fun to read, and maybe if you haven’t listened to evermore yet, this inspired you to. I can’t wait for Part 2, I’ll see you tomorrow!

Have you listened to evermore? Which one do you like better, evermore or folklore? What’s your favorite Taylor Swift album? Do you listen to her?

Christmas Playlist Swap Ft. Mary Elizabeth! (Blogmas Day 2)

Day 1: Nutcracker Recap

Hey daydreamers! For today’s Blogmas, I have a super fun post planned for y’all! The amazing Mary Elizabeth from Middle Mary emailed me about a collab for each other’s Blogmas, and I was SO EXCITED about the opportunity! We came up with a Christmas-themed playlist swap featuring our favorite Christmas songs. Basically, we sent each other our top 15 holiday tunes for the other to react to and rate out of 10! Don’t forget to check out her post, where she reacted to and rated my Christmas playlist!

Let’s get right to it!

Carol of the Bells – Pentatonix

I LOVE this song! The artists are insanely talented, the tune is amazing, and it’s such a Christmas classic. It’s mesmerizing to listen to and I love Pentatonix!

Rating: 10/10

I’ll Be Home For Christmas – Bing Crosby

This one is an oldie but a goodie! 😉 It’s a beautiful song and a classic for sure, but it’s a little slow and also really sad when you listen to the lyrics (in a good way). I don’t listen to a lot of songs like this, so this was really cool! Although it was a melancholy type of song, I definitely enjoyed listening to it!

Rating: 7/10

Run Rudolph Run – Chuck Berry

I haven’t heard this one in forever!! This one is a super fun and upbeat song. I’m not the biggest fan of rock-and-roll, but this one was pretty good!

Rating: 6/10

It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas – Bing Crosby

This song is so amazing, and I’m constantly humming it around the house at the beginning of the year! I always love this one!

Rating: 9/10

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year – Andy Williams

As soon as this song comes on, I immediately think of my favorite Christmas tradition, which is driving around sipping hot chocolate while looking at Christmas lights with my family! New York also comes to mind for some reason. Love this song and the instant feeling you get from listening to it!

Rating: 10/10

Rocking Around The Christmas Tree – Brenda Lee

Everything about this song immediately makes me think of Christmas, and the singer is so talented! (Fun fact: I just discovered that she was only 13 years old when she recorded this. That’s crazy!)

Rating: 9/10

You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch

Haha, this song definitely brings back memories of Christmas recitals! Another Christmas tradition for us is that we always watch The Grinch (the original version). I definitely don’t listen to this one regularly, though.

Rating: 4/10

(There’s No Place Like) Home for the Holidays – The Carpenters

I’ve actually never heard this song before! It was a good song, but kind of repetitive. It definitely got me in a Christmas-y mood!

Rating: 5/10

A Charlie Brown Christmas “Linus and Lucy” – Peanuts Gang

It’s kind of impossible to listen to this song without smiling! I love A Charlie Brown Christmas, and this song totally brings back memories and makes me feel really happy!

Rating: 10/10

The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don’t Be Late) – Alvin & The Chipmunks

Haha, I also did a dance to this one! Not one I’d listen to regularly, but definitely made me smile.

Rating: 4/10

Winter Wonderland – Bing Crosby

I love this song! I like the Amy Grant version a lot, but this one is really good too! Definitely another classic and one that I always love hearing and hum around the house all the time.

Rating: 8/10

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town – The Jackson 5

This version is so fun, and makes me really happy to listen to!

Rating: 10/10

Silent Night – Hillsong

I know I keep saying this over and over again, but I love Hillson and this version! I’ve never heard this version before, but it’s so peaceful and relaxing.

Rating: 9/10

We Three Kings – Kirk Franklin

Ooh I saw this movie a few years ago when it came out and really liked it! This song is super cool and catchy!

Rating 9/10

Alll I Want For Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey

Yessss, this song is my favorite! Like, is it even Christmas without Mariah Carey?

Rating: 11/10 😛

This was so fun! A huge thank-you to Mary for collaborating with me! I loved listening to your playlist and rediscovering some music that I love but haven’t listened to in a while. Once again, don’t forget to check out her post! See y’all tomorrow and Merry Christmas!!

What are your favorite Christmas songs? Do you like any of these songs?

Hey daydreamers! Welcome or welcome back to my blog! 😊 Lol, why do I sound like a YouTuber all of the sudden? Speaking of…today’s post is a list of my favorite YouTube channels! Yup nobody saw that coming I was a bit stuck on what to post this week, so I figured I would finally do a post that’s been sitting on my post idea list for awhile and share some of my favorite YouTubers!

10 Things That Make Me Happy! // Tag

I’ve been seeing this tag all around the blogosphere, and OH MY GOODNESS I wanted to steal this tag so bad! It looked so fun and relaxing to write, and it was fun and relaxing and made me so happy to read! So when Madi tagged me for this, I was LITERALLY SO HAPPY. Haha I need to put getting tagged for this post as one of ten things that make me happy!

(Okay, we’re one paragraph in, and I have already said the word happy WAY TOO MANY TIMES. *sigh*)

Anyways, a HUGE thank you to Madi for tagging me, and thank you to Maya for creating this! Let’s jump right in! *dives headfirst* (Wait don’t you always dive headfirst? You wouldn’t dive feet first, because then it wouldn’t be diving…*head spinning*)

When I dance, I just feel so happy and free – when I’m on pointe, I feel like I’m a hundred feet tall. When I leap, I feel like I’m flying in the air. When I turn, I feel like I’m spinning and spinning a hundred miles an hour. I love dance (and I love it so much I do it like 6+ hours a week, lol) and it makes me so happy!

(This is a picture of me in class last Saturday – we were waiting for the teacher to show us the combination!)

My favorite style of dance is (quite obviously!) ballet! I love feeling so graceful when I’m performing, and I really love dancing on pointe. It doesn’t even hurt that bad! I also enjoy the challenge and difficulty of it, how you’re always striving for perfection, pushing yourself to do more.

(This picture was taken onstage at dress rehearsal for our contemporary recital last spring. I’m the one who’s about to be lifted!)

My other favorite style is contemporary! I love how much variation there is: it can be a violently fast, athletic dance or a slow, flowing emotional piece or a mixture of both! I also love the daring lifts and how I can express my emotions with choreography.

my puppy

My little puppy, Chewy, is the softest, fluffiest, cutest, tiniest dog in the whole entire world! I love him so much. *Squeezes* He makes me so happy with his hilarious antics and amazing adorableness!

And guess what? Today is Chewy’s third birthday! *Celebrates by throwing confetti in the air* He’s turning three today!

His activities include eating, sleeping, going on walks, barking at random things that don’t exist, staring at people, staring out the window, being cute, mushing his face into the carpet, sleeping on his back in his dog bed with his head hanging off the side, being adorable, and impersonating a present. (Lol) When we put the Christmas tree up, he loves sitting underneath it like a little Christmas gift! We haven’t put ours up this year yet, but I really want to…

hot chocolate & tea

I LOVE HOT CHOCOLATE AND TEA so much!! I love cozying up with a book and fuzzy socks while sipping skinny hot chocolate from Starbucks. I also started drinking tea in the mornings – my favorite flavor is probably peppermint! I love drinking warm herbal tea in the mornings; even though there isn’t any caffine in the type of tea I always drink, it wakes me up and makes me feel so cozy and warm and safe and…ahhh!

photo from Unsplash

I also really like bringing a to-go cup with my favorite herbal tea to church and I drink it during the sermon. When I’m at home, I use my mom’s old giant mug that says “Mom Fuel!” on it, lol!

Photo from Google

summer/fall/winter/spring (aka ALL THE SEASONS)

Okay, I know this one is kinda weird, but I was going to put that summer makes me happy, but then I’m LOVING fall right now and it’s my birthday season, and winter is so cozy and I love the holiday season, and spring has so much fun stuff that happens and I love all the flowers and weather, so…basically all the different seasons make me happy, each in their own unique way!!

photos from Unsplash

I love how God created seasons, how everything changes, bringing new adventures, feelings, and beauty in nature. The only thing about seasons is, well, we don’t really have them here in southeast Texas. XD Seriously, the leaves are JUST starting to fall, and today it’s 50 degrees but two days ago it was 75…

Photo from Unsplash

Music makes me so happy! My favorite artists and bands are: Taylor Swift, the Jonas Brothers, Matthew Parker, OneRepublic, and for KING&COUNTRY. I think I mainly listen to pop, but also I really like modern Christian music like Hollyn and for KING&COUNTRY!

If I’m not singing, there is probably something seriously wrong with me, because (fun fact!) I’m literally ALWAYS SINGING. While I’m walking around the house, in the shower, whatever I’m doing, I’m constantly belting out whatever song is stuck in my head at the moment! I sing so much to the point that my family gets crazy annoyed with me – after I’ve belted out the same chorus 10 times, I’m rewarded with an “EMMMMMIIIIIEEEE!!!!!” from my sister. XD (Except she uses my real name, of course, that would be super weird if she called me by my online name lol)

photo from Unsplash

Every night before I go to bed, I have to read a book or else I can’t fall asleep! I try to read SOMETHING every day – my Bible, a magazine, a book…and I love reading books so much! I always get way too invested in the characters, the story, the plot, to the point where I feel as if the book is real and I literally cannot put the book down.

photo from Unsplash

My favorite books are: the Hunger Games series, The Maddie Diaries, Life In Motion, and 11 before 12. I always get stuck in a rut of reading the same books over and over again!

photo from Unsplash

I love drawing! It’s so peaceful and relaxing. I’ll spend hours drawing pretty much anything, but I really love drawing ballerinas and pointe shoes. I also like to follow along to step-by-step drawing tutorials! I’m not the best at drawing realistically and I have a lot to learn, but I think my drawing and doodling skills have improved a lot over the years.

I also really enjoy drawing in my bullet journal! I’m working on a December spread that I’m really proud of so far and I know you guys will love, so I’ll make sure to make a post about that soon! I also doodle everywhere – in class, on my hand, on random sheets of notebook paper…

Photo from Unsplash

making videos

I love, love, love making videos – especially vlogging and making stop motions. It makes me so happy to see all of my hard work pay off when everything finally comes together after hours (in a stop motion’s case, months) of hard work! I’m currently working on a top-secret project that might involve a video…

my friends

Hanging out with all of my amazing friends together makes me so happy. I love you guys!! *hugs* (Also shoutout to Janel, who’s one of my best commenters and a great friend!) When I’m with my friends, I can be myself, share my secrets, and laugh my head off and nobody will judge me. Nothing is ever boring when I’m with my friends!

photo from unsplash

And also all of my amazing online friends make me so happy! I get so happy and excited every time I get a comment from one of you guys! *hugs the entire blogosphere*

Top Ten #1 // 10 Summery Songs & Books

Hey Daydreamers! There’s always that one book or that one song, and whenever you read it or when it comes on, you instantly think of summer. Today, I’m going to be sharing some of my favorite books and songs with summery vibes that I could reread or listen to over and over!

✨☀😎 song: “hola” by hollyn ✨☀😎

This is probably one of my favorite songs ever, and also one of the most summery ones I know. This song is bursting at the seams with summer vibes, and it’s by one of my favorite artists. It’s a little repetitive, but it’s such a great song to just chill out to and it has an awesome message!

PS…I did a cover/AG lyric video to this song over at my other blog, American Girl World, if you want to check that out here! (#shamelessselfpromo lol 😄)

✨☀😎 book: 11 before 12 by lisa greenwald✨☀😎

Even though most of 11 Before 12 is about starting middle school, this book is so summery! It’s a super relaxing read about two BFFs who create this bucket list of things they need to do before they turn 12. It’s such a fun novel, and one of my favorite books ever.

The first day of middle school means trading in freeze tag at the pool for new schedules, fabulous outfits, and a fresh start. But for eleven-year-old Kaylan, the chaos of new locker combinations, cafeteria cliques, and potential first kisses is more than she can handle. She dreads the start of sixth grade and feels like she wants—no, needs—a winning game plan.

Luckily, Kaylan and her effortlessly chill BFF, Arianna, have a fool-proof plan for tackling transitions: a list of eleven things they need to do to totally transform themselves before they both turn twelve in November.

But between making guy friends, getting detention (and makeovers!), helping humanity, and having super-candid conversations with their moms about their flaws, the first 100 days of school turn out worse than Kaylan ever imagined. Kaylan and Ari forget to focus on their friendship and soon their loyalty to the list—what was meant to help them keep it together—becomes the very thing tearing their lives apart.

Harper Collins Publishers

✨☀😎 song: “chilling in the summertime” by the jonas brothers✨☀😎

As much as I love the Jonas Brothers’ new album, (which I’ve been playing on repeat, btw) Chilling in the Summertime is one of their older songs, and it’s so catchy! This song is insanely summery and super relaxing to listen to. (Plus this music video from their Disney channel show way back when is awesome!!)

✨☀😎 book: the maddie diaries by maddie ziegler✨☀😎

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read this book (as you can see by the worn cover). It’s so, so, good, and one of my favorite non-fiction books ever! It’s also super summery – I read this by the pool yesterday, and I was soooo relaxed. Basically, it’s Maddie Ziegler’s memoir all about her life as a dancer, actress, model, and fashion designer. It’s filled with fun tips and tricks, and some cool photo inserts, too!

Maddie Ziegler knew one day she’d be a star—she just didn’t know how soon that day would come.

At just eight years old, she was cast on Lifetime’s hit reality show Dance Moms and quickly won the hearts of fans everywhere with her natural talent and determination. Soon, she was capturing attention from all over—including pop superstar Sia, who cast her as her dance double in the incredibly popular music video for her hit song “Chandelier.” The rest, as they say, was history.

In this inspirational memoir, Maddie explains the hard work she put into her rise to stardom and how she keeps her balance along the way—starring in music videos, going on tour, and becoming an actress in The Book of Henry with Naomi Watts and Jacob Tremblay. She also answers her fans’ burning questions with wise advice she’s learned on her journey. With honesty, charm, and humor, Maddie offers her unique perspective on making her way in the entertainment world as a young teenager, reflecting on the lessons she’s learned—and preparing for the exciting road ahead.

✨☀😎 song: “good memories” by matthew parker✨☀😎

Madi from Life Undefeated recently recommended Matthew Parker’s album “Daydream”, so I tried it out and absolutely loved it! This was one of my favorite songs from the album, and is so summery. It makes me think of a road trip, and totally takes me back to Colorado. I imagine Riley, Unicorn, and me, hanging out in Colorado together…*sighs dreamily*

✨☀😎 book: kenzie’s rules for life by mackenzie ziegler✨☀😎

This book is by Maddie’s little sister, Mackenzie! It’s a lot like Maddie’s book, and it’s packed with tips, recipes, tutorials, quizzes, and more! I love how each chapter is a “rule” for life based on her experiences and adventures. This book is another favorite and a super fun, inspiring read that’s perfect for summer!

An inspirational, upbeat collection of relatable lessons from the teen sensation, Mackenzie Ziegler—an award-winning dancer, singer/songwriter, and actress.

Growing up is hard, but growing up in the spotlight is even harder. However, Mackenzie Ziegler is taking it all in stride, thanks to her positive attitude on life. From getting her start on Dance Moms, to her sold-out tour alongside Johnny Orlando, there’s nothing that she can’t do.

In Kenzie’s Rules for Life, the dance prodigy, singer/songwriter, actress, and model offers her advice on friendship, family, fitness, style, and positivity. She shares lessons drawn from her own experiences for those navigating through their tween years on how to be happy, healthy, and confident in all aspects of their lives.

✨☀😎 song: “sunflower” by post malone & swan lee✨☀😎

I recently saw Into the Spiderverse (it was pretty good!) and I loved this summery song from it! It has a sweet message and it’s such a cool song. It was super funny in the movie when Miles was listening to it, because I had no idea that it was from Spiderverse until I watched the movie!

✨☀😎 book: jessica darling’s it-list 2 by megan mccaferty✨☀😎

This book is another one that’s set in the school year, but somehow it’s super summery to me. I have no idea why. XD I know it’s kind of weird to put the second book of a duology in a book list, but I haven’t read the first one (although the movie is amazing!) This book tells the tale of an awkward girl who accidentally misinterprets another list her sister gives her to help her survive middle school.

Jessica Darling is getting the hang of seventh grade — finally! While her old BFF, Bridget, is busy talking (nonstop) about her new boyfriend, Burke, Jessica tries to fit in with her new friends, Sara, Manda, and Hope. The IT List instructions from her sister, Bethany, and an epic slumber party may help Jessica secure her spot in the cool clique, but does she even want it?

Megan McCafferty’s It List series introduces readers to Jessica Darling, an unabashedly brainy seventh grader who stays true to herself, even if it means being (totally not) cool.

✨☀😎 song: “happier” by marshmello ft. bastille✨☀😎

This song has such a catchy beat that I love listening to! It’s pretty repetitive, but it’s nice to listen to while you’re reading (one of the books on this list! :P) or making art, because it’s super relaxing and helps me focus for some reason. (Psst…check out this awesome Sunflower x Happier mashup that sounds so perfect!!)

✨☀😎 book: jacky ha-ha: my life is a joke by james patterson✨☀😎

This is another book that’s the second one in a duology/series, but this one is so perfect for summer! It’s set in a beach town in New Jersey at a carnival in the ’90s. Seriously, does it get more summery than that? 😛 It’s about this girl named Jacky who has to get a job and ends up working at the carnival, and there’s Shakespeare plays and summer love and icies and it’s so funny! Seriously – I laughed out loud so many times when I read this book.

Jacky Hart has found a hidden talent in the performing arts, and she’s a triple threat onstage! She wants nothing more than to act and sing all summer – but her parents have other plans for her. Jacky reluctantly signs up for a summer job in her resort town of Seaside Heights, New Jersey, where tourists come to enjoy the beach and fun carnival atmosphere.

Now she has serious responsibilities like her job and babysitting her younger sisters, but Jacky longs to perform in the summer stock performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Can she handle all of her important commitments and still have fun with her friends – or will she learn that juggling isn’t one of her many talents?

And that’s it for this post! If you liked this, don’t forget to give us a like and leave a comment! I really hope you check these books and songs out, and you find your new favorite song or that book you can’t stop rereading!

It’s crazy to think that summer’s ending soon – at least for me. I’m going back to school around August 12 or 13, and I’m kind of excited, but also sad that summer’s almost over. Expect lots of back-to-school posts, along with the rest of my Colorado Travel Diary series!

Thanks for reading, and have an awesome day!
