Hey daydreamers! I know I said that I’d see y’all in 2021, and I was originally planning on taking a break after Blogmas. But I really like to read these types of posts, so I thought it would be fun to show what I got for Christmas! We still have another Christmas to go to at my dad’s side of the family, but here’s what I got so far.
Also, I know that everyone says this, but it’s true: Christmas is not about the gifts, it’s about the best Gift of all – the birth of our Savior! I’m not trying to brag about what I got in any way or try to make anyone feel bad. Like I said earlier, I personally enjoy reading these posts.
We opened presents on the morning of Christmas Eve (Santa came early 😉), and the next day we drove up to our cousin’s house and ate an amazing Christmas dinner and exchanged more gifts! We spent the night there and then went to our grandma’s house before heading home. I had a great Christmas eve/day, and I hope you guys did too!
First, I got some cute leopard-print Texas earrings from my cousins! These are so cute!
I also got two other pairs of earrings from them.
I was SO EXCITED when I opened this one from my mom, I’ve been wanting the Pura Vida wave ring forever and I’m obsessed! It goes with everything and is super cute and summer-y!
Also from Pura Vida, my mom got me this pretty white bracelet and the Type 1 Diabetes Awareness bracelet.
This one is maybe my favorite present! I was SO excited when I opened this, I was not expecting to get this haha and I’m so happy to finally have a Kendra Scott necklace! It’s gold with a pretty rose quartz jewel, and I’m wearing it right now as I type this! Thanks mom!
This TurnBoard is from my grandma, and it’s already helping my pirouettes! It’s really fun to use, and although it took a little bit to get the hang of it, I think it’ll help my technique a lot!
Of course, since it’s Christmas 2020, I got some cute Old Navy masks in my stocking 😉
Eee, I’m so excited about this one! I’m a huge fan of Maddie Ziegler, and I’ve wanted this palette ever since she came out with her makeup collab with Morphe. The shades are stunning, and I’ve had a ton of fun experimenting with different looks! My favorite shade is Butterfly Fantasy, since it goes with anyting, but Angel is pretty because it changes hues with the light. Overall, this palette is super high quality!
My mom got me my first foundation from BareMinerals.
I also got some more makeup from my mom, some brow tint and Elf concealer!
I also got some Burt’s Bees lip balm and body lotion in my stocking, which is perfect for my because my hands and lips are super chapped and Burt’s Bees is super high-quality.
I got a face mask in my stocking, which I’m so excited to use because I love spa stuff like this!
I forgot I asked for this, so I was super surprised when I opened these Converse haha! I’m so excited about these, I immediately put them on and walked around in them almost the whole day XD They got a little bit dirty since I wore them at my cousin’s house.
From my cousins, I got this book called Charlie Thorne and the Last Equation by Stuart Gibbs. I always need a book to read before I go to bed, and I already started this one and it’s super exciting, full of twists and turns and conspiracies! I would definitely reccomend this one.
I got this super fun long-sleeve Christmas shirt from my mom! I wore it on Christmas day, and my cousin also wore one that said Fa-La-La-Llama on it, so we were matching lol!
I got a rock salt lamp from my ballet company big sisters, and it’s SO pretty and relaxing!
For my early Christmas present, my grandma took me shopping at this amazing dance store in the city, and I got a bunch of dancewear from there! First I got this super comfy basic Bloch leo in black.
I also chose this fancy Gaynor Minden one with a zipper down the front and a high neck, and it’s really cute!
I found this teal lace skirt on sale, and I always get a lot of compliments on it. It’s super fun to wear!
This one is one of my favorites that I got. It’s a simple camisole leo with a V-neck and really pretty back straps!
This one is another favorite – I finally have a patterned leotard! It has this gorgeous black-and-white design on the front, and the back is mesh with velvet lining all along the straps.
I got this fun gift box from my aunt that has all this fancy spa stuff! It came with fuzzy socks, a really good scented candle, a relaxing lavender eye cover, some lip balm, and Himalayan bath salt. I can’t wait to use all of this!
Finally, I got the Loopy rose gold marble phone case! It’s so pretty, and I like how the loop makes it really easy to hold while taking blog pics!
I hope that you guys all had an amazing Christmas! I would love to hear all about in the comments below! Once again, I’m super grateful for everything that I got! I might update this post after Christmas on my dad’s side, but if not, I’ll see ya next year! 😉
Hey daydreamers! I hope that everyone had a FANTASTIC Thanksgiving! 😉 I’ve been spending this break getting holiday posts scheduled for the blog, so I’m actually writing this before Thanksgiving happened yet. How has everyone been doing?
Raise your hand if you’re as excited about Christmas as I am!! 🙋♀️ For me, Christmas starts the day after Thanksgiving – no sooner or later! I might start listening to music a little bit before then, but not before Thanksgiving break at least. 😂
Right now is about that time of year when every single relative is asking for wishlist ideas. If you’re anything like me, you have this long running list of things you want throughout the year, but forget everything you’ve ever thought of when it’s actually time to ask for things! 😂 So, I’ve gathered some ideas for teens/tweens to ask for, and this also serves as the *perfect* gift guide for any teenage girl in your life. Let’s get right to it!
My friends and I are all obsessed with Kendra Scott! I only have one pair of earrings from them, but my friends have these beautiful pendant necklaces. This item is definitely going on my wishlist this year, and you can totally ask for any jewelry from there! They have a ton of different rings, necklaces, and earrings in so many different styles and colors.
Okay, this item might seem a little out of place at first, but if you go to a summer camp like me these footlocker trunks are a must! I’ve been wanting one forever, but they’re a little expensive to just buy for camp. Christmas is the perfect opportunity to ask for a nice footlocker trunk, and they even come in fun colors and designs!
I’m a huge fan of this brand and love all of the jewelry from here! While Kendra Scott has more classic, elegant jewelry, Pura Vida has a beachy, summery aesthetic. They’re known for their bracelets, but they have a ton of cute rings, necklaces, and earrings too! I’m definitely adding some rings from here to my wishlist, and any teen girl would *love* something from this brand.
makeup
Not everyone is a makeup person, but if you’re into it, you should totally ask for makeup for Christmas! I’m asking for the Imagination Palate from Maddie Ziegler’s collab with Morphe and Glossier Boy Brow. Glossier is a great brand, or you could just ask for a Sephora or Ulta gift card to shop for your own!
phone case
If you have a phone, you could ask for a phone case! There’s a ton of cute ones out there from different brands like Loopy and Casetify, and there’s so many prints, colors, and kinds you can get. I love this cow print one!
dancewear
If you’re a dancer, Christmas is *the* perfect time to get all the leotards you’ve been wanting! I only have three leos right now, so I really want to get some fun colorful ones for Saturdays and some basics for class. A great place to shop for leos is Discount Dance or a local dance shop! More ideas for dancers are foot stretchers, ballet skirt, or trashbag warmups.
I love the idea of a polaroid printer! I have a polaroid camera, but it’s hard to get the picture exactly right. There’s tons of photos on my phone that I wish I could turn into polaroids for my bulletin board, and this printer solves that problem! It also comes in pretty colors like pink, black, gold, and white.
I recently bought this set from Amazon with my own money, and I love it! I know there’s already a lot of jewelry on this list, but I’m kind of obsessed with this and I’ve been trying out a new earring each day. I love how they all match, so you could mix and match and looks great if you have double piercing! One thing I would say is that they feel a little more cheap than if you would pay $19 for one pair instead of 12, but it’s definitely a great deal and the perfect way to build your earring collection!
cute face masks
We wear masks to protect ourself and others, but why not look fashionable while you’re doing that? XD This Christmas I definitely want to get some fun face masks, maybe ones with a floral or Christmas theme in cute patterns and colors! Hannah from The Striped Plaid makes some adorable ones on her Etsy shop, so make sure to check that out! (Once again, not sponsored – I just love her shop! 😁)
Before we go, I have a quick announcement! Do y’all remember my giveaway with Chaudenade from before Halloween? (Psst…my code EMMIE20 is still available for 20% off your purchase through December 1 😉) Our giveaway policy is that the winner must respond within two weeks, and the winner that was chosen hasn’t responded. So, I decided to pick another winner!
A quick reminder what the winner will be getting: Four Chaudenade stickers, a bonus sticker to make up for the fact that two of them are Halloween (lol), some fun little surprises including Washi tapes, candy, and more! And the winner is…*drumroll please*
Congrats, Liberty! I’ll send you an email ASAP about your prize! Make sure to check out her blog linked above. Thanks again to Chloe for sponsoring this giveaway, even if it’s a little late 😛
Thank you so much for reading this! Once again, I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and that everyone will have an awesome holiday season! I hope that this list helped you either pick out gifts for a teen girl or figure out what to ask for as a teen girl. See you next week! 😉
How was everyone’s Thanksgiving? When does Christmas start for you? What are you asking for Christmas? Did you add any of these items to your wishlist?

Hey daydreamers! I’m BACK, and in full swing, thanks to a random burst of inspiration and motivation to blog. 😂 I have been SO BUSY the past couple of weeks, because I just started school! And let me just tell you…adjusting from having absolutely zero obligations or due dates, 80% free time, and being so insanely bored that I was way too excited for school to start than the average 7th grader should be, to 30 hours of homeschool/homework a week, a full school day 3x a week, cheer twice a week, dance four times a week, chores, AND keeping up with friends has been HARD. On top of that, I had a *lovely* sty that only just went away and some serious writer’s block, so I definitely needed the 2/3-week break I took! However, I’m SO grateful to be back at school, in a routine, and seeing my friends. I definitely prefer being busy to being bored, even if it’ll take a bit of adjusting at first!
Anyway, I’m back and I have a super fun post this week! I’ve seen a couple of “Dear Future Self” letter posts lately, and I really wanted to write one too! I decided to write this to myself on the last day of 8th grade, meaning I just completed junior high. If I (hopefully!) still have this blog in 2 years, I’ll revisit this letter and respond to myself! Here’s the letter I wrote [anything un-italicized and in brackets like this is stuff I added to the letter to make more sense to you!]
Dear future self,
Hey! It’s the 12-year-old (almost 13) version of you, from September 4, 2020. My first day of 7th grade was Monday, August 24th, and you just had your last day of 8th grade today! Woohoo, you MADE IT! I hope finals went well and that this summer will be totally awesome.
Junior high so far is EASY – it’s just like riding a bike! Except the bike is on fire and you’re on fire and everything’s on fire and you’re drowning in a pile of homework. In all seriousness, even though it can be super stressful and is a huge jump from 6th, I’ve been really enjoying 7th, even with the new building and the limited seats and masks and all that, it’s been SO good to be busy, even if that means a few math tests!
I hope that you’re still blogging, even if it’s not every week, and you’re still best friends with Taylor, Riley, Barkley, Lulu, & Arrow [codenames, lol]. PLEASE tell me that everything is back to normal, or at least almost normal, and that 2021 and 2022 have been *way* better years than 2020. 2020 stinks even more than Chewy’s butt when he needs a bath, and that’s saying something, [especially considering I don’t normally say butt on my blog lol]. What is the world even like now? Do you have social media? Are masks still a thing? Can you hug random people if you felt so inclined? Is the world + life in general getting better?
What’s been the best and worst things about junior high? Have you made more new friends? Have you done homework or blogged in a coffee shop yet? 🙂 Did you ever write that novel you keep putting off? Are you still dancing? Did you make company? Are you still in cheer? Have you done an extension or full-up yet? Are you on track to playing Clara in the Nutcracker someday? What does your room look like now? What is your little sister like? What are YOU like? Did you like your teachers, your classes, your schedule this year?
Your 12-year-old self is doing pretty good and is definitely enjoying life and having fun but is definitely a little stressed. XD I want to be a journalist/reporter or an endocrinologist when I grow up, and I listen to Taylor Swift, Kenzie, the Jonas Brothers, and Surfaces – ooh, and the Hamilton soundtrack, which just came out on DIsney+! I’m terrified and excited about the school year ahead, and it also freaks me out to think I’ll be 14 when I’m reading this (and 13 way too soon)! Right now I’m trying to read my Bible every night, trying to memorize more verses, and I hope you still are! How was Camp *insert name* last summer? What session did you go to? Was it as fun as last year? Do you still talk with the Driftwood girls? Have you made it past a shoe size 4 yet?
And now for the mushy part: Remember that yourself at the beginning of 7th grade would totally look up to you, and this letter is a reminder of how far you’ve come! YOU DID IT – you made it past 7th AND 8th grade, you survived a global pandemic and the worst year ever, you only have 2 years left to get your driver’s license. You have family and friends that love you and serve a God who loves you even more. DON’T STRESS (hahahahahahahaha) and really enjoy this summer and make it the best one yet before high school (!!!). Don’t forget to laugh at yourself and love your imperfections.
I can’t wait to meet you – and I can’t wait to BE you!
Lots of love from yourself on Sept. 4, 2020, age 12 years, 10 months, and 25 days ❤
Then I put it in an envelope along with $1 in cash, just because it’s fun to find money randomly, wrote “DO NOT OPEN UNTIL THE LAST DAY OF 8TH GRADE” on it, and hid it at the bottom of my sock drawer. I also set a phone reminder for May 2022 to open the letter in case I forget!
And that’s my letter to my future self! I can’t wait to read it in two years and respond back to myself. I hope it inspired you to make your own letter to your future self, whether it be for the end of the school year, at your next birthday, a milestone, your future husband or kids, or the end of the pandemic! I definitely missed you guys and I’ll see you next week!
Are you going to write a letter to your future self? Any tips for starting junior high? Do you like these types of posts?
Not only will you get access to exclusive content and benefits, but you’ll also get notified whenever there’s a new post, and receive a monthly update that includes exclusive content and freebies! You can unsubscribe anytime if you ever change your mind.
The giveaway is now closed! The winner will be announced on Wednesday.
Hey daydreamers! I don’t normally post today, but I’m going to start doing “Wednesday Bonus Posts” every so often whenever I have something quick to share or to tide you over until the next post!
As you could tell from the title, I’m hosting another giveaway! I’m super excited about this one and I think you guys will love all the items in it! We’ll be getting to the rules, bonus entries, what’s included, and all that fun stuff in just a bit!
Hey daydreamers! A long time ago at the start of the school year (haha remember when there wasn’t a global pandemic) I did a What’s in my Backpack post for back to school. I thought it would be fun to show what my backpack looks like at the end of the year versus the beginning so you guys could see what worked, what didn’t, and all the things about my backpack that have changed!
School just got out for me on May 8th, and I’m so excited about summer! I have a ton of fun, summer-y posts lined up for the next couple weeks to celebrate school ending and I’m super pumped about them. Oh, and we also upgraded to the WordPress Premium plan, which means a brand-new theme and no more ads! Make sure to head on over to the site if you aren’t there to check out the new changes! And if you haven’t yet, check out my first what’s in my backpack post before you read this one.
Okay, without further introduction, let’s start digging through my backpack! 😂
Hey daydreamers! Spring break is finally here, and I’ve felt so relaxed and refreshed this week…and a little bored, too. 😂 With all that time on my hands, I decided to create a bunch of blog posts, so I’m all set for the next couple of weeks! Yay me being productive! 👊😝
On the survey I posted last week, you guys wanted to see more fashion posts! I had this one all planned out, so it worked out perfectly. Hey, I’m here to do what the people ask. 😂 The nice thing about early March in Texas is that you can wear almost anything and not be hot or cold – jeans and a long-sleeve shirt, short sleeves and shorts, a short-sleeved dress and leggings, etc.
Another thing I love about springtime is the color palate, so I tried to incorporate a lot of light colors and pastels but also some dark ones also to balance it out! If you like any of these outfits, I’ll have similar items linked below and make sure to pin them on your Outfits board on Pinterest (and if you do, let me know and I’ll send you 3 free wallpapers!)
Without further adieu, let’s get to it! *Quick disclaimer: This post is NOT sponsored.*
Look 1
Shirt: Ivory Ella (every shirt you buy goes towards elephant conservation efforts!)
I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I had a blast making it, and it was so fun and relaxing to put together these outfits! (And wow, today I learned just how much of my clothing is from Target and Justice. 😮😂) Remember, if you like any of these outfits, don’t forget to pin them! I have some really exciting posts coming up, and I can’t wait for y’all to see them! Thank you so much for reading, and have a fantastic day!
Which outfit is your favorite? What do you wear in spring? Aren’t Francesca’s scrunchies awesome? What’s the weather like in March where you live? What outfit would you be most likely to wear?
And remember, if you share this post by reblogging, pinning on Pinterest, sharing on social media, emailing a friend, or any way you’d like, leave a comment letting me know how you shared it and you’ll get 3 FREE desktop wallpapers delivered straight to your inbox! This month’s theme is yellow and I’m super happy with how it turned out!
Hey daydreamers! You guys really seemed to like my morning routine post, so I decided to do something sort of similar to that today.
In this post, I’m basically going to be showing you how I do my makeup for shows and ballet performances, and this is pretty much how I did my makeup for Nutcracker a few weeks ago! (I miss Nutcracker so much!!! *cries*)
First off, I am in no way a professional makeup artist or anything, I have no idea what I’m doing and this is basically what I’ve figured out by experimenting and trying out products and stuff. And also, this isn’t sponsored or anything (haha as if, I wish this was sponsored lol)!
Without futher ado…my attempt at a makeup tutorial! 😂
This is just my face pre-makeup. 😂 Onstage, it’s really important to wear heavy makeup because the huge stage lights completely wash your face out, and you have to make sure the back row of the audience can see your facial expressions. You mainly just have to focus on brows, eyes, lips, and cheekbones.
Lol, I should know…once I was in a play and I didn’t wear ANY makeup at all, and it looks like I don’t even have a face in this picture! *Cringes*
The first thing I do is just pull my hair back into a simple ponytail, just to keep my hair out of my face.
First, I’m using a beauty blender and a Neutrogena product (I think it’s supposed to be cover up, but I sort of use it like foundation.)
Next, I apply the cover up on my chin, forehead, cheeks, and under my eyes. Then I blend everything in with the beauty blender by sort of bouncing the blender on my face and smoothing everything out with my fingers.
Next, I put some highlighter around the corners of my eyes to brighten them up a little.
Sorry this is out of focus! I’m using the light to medium matte bronzer, matte rose blush, and gold highlighter from this palate from the Nuetrogena makeup case I got for Christmas.
My face in this picture, lol! First, I take the matte bronzer and lightly dust it over my cheekbones, and blend with a beauty blender.
Next, I apply some blush to my cheekbones – a little more than I would usually do, because it needs to show up onstage. Once again, blend!
Lastly, I dust a touch of shimmery gold highlighter slightly above my cheekbones. And I – you guessed it! – blend it all in.
Onto brows! I’m using the light brown brow cream from the same case thing.
Using a brow brush, I brush on a thick line at the top of my brows, which looks really funny and strange at first, lol!
After that, I blend it together by rubbing my fingers over my brows, and then I fill in any sparse spots with the brow brush.
Next, I apply some glowy nude eyeshadow base with an eyeshadow brush. I really like using this because it smooths everything out and gives your eyes a bit of a natural glow!
Moving onto my favorite part – eyeshadow! I’m using the Candelight, Amour, Midnight, and Sparks colors from this palate, and a crease brush from a brush kit I got.
First, I dust the Candelight shade all over my lids. Then I go over that with the Amour color. After that, I brush the darker Midnight color from the bottom of my eyelids to my crease, and then go over everything with the light shimmery Sparks color.
Ta-da! Eyeshadow done, now onto lashes and eyeliner.
Doing my own eyeliner is really hard for me, so I usually have my mom do it…but I tried, and kinda failed, haha! For shows I always, always, always do winged eyeliner! I attempted a wing here and it’s kinda uneven…oh well?
Second-to-last, I apply mascara! I use this really big, thick one for onstage. I don’t know why, but mascara is really fun to put on for some reason. 😂
Normally, when I’m in a group dance, we all have one lipstick color that we all share so we look the same, so I usually put it on there. It kinda depends on the role: sometimes it’s pink, and sometimes it’s red.
Finally, fill in your lip liner with a bright red or dark pink shade, and you’re done!
I’m pretty happy about how this turned out! The eyeliner is only a little bit messy, and the eyeshadow turned out pretty well! I probably would’ve done everything a bit more exaggerated for a real show, but I didn’t want to put a TON on because it’s hard to take it off, especially thick eyeliner. 😂
And that’s it for this post! I hope you guys found this interesting, and maybe you can use it to try out some stage makeup of your own. Let me know what you think in the comments!
Have you ever done stage makeup? Do you like makeup everyday, or only for shows and special occasions? Pink or red lipstick? Are you bad at eyeliner like me?
P.S. – If you share this post by reblogging, pinning on Pinterest, sharing on social media, or sending the link to a friend, you’ll get three FREE desktop wallpapers sent straight to your inbox! Just leave a comment telling me how you shared this post!
I HAVE FAILED AS A BLOGGER *melts into a puddle of despair* I wish I had a really good reason that this post was late. But nope, I JUST FORGOT. *bangs head on the wall repeatedly* I was even really bored yesterday before night, and I totally could’ve finished this and…

Let’s hand the mic over to Megan for her acceptance speech.
I’m so excited to have won this award! I really enjoy having a blog and getting to know other people through it and it’s pretty wonderful to know you all like reading my ramblings. It’s been a great almost six years blogging and I’ve learned a lot, mostly that you don’t have to be like the popular bloggers if you want to enjoy it. So there’s my challenge for you guys I guess – be yourself on your blog! Thanks again to everyone who has left a comment or read my posts over the years. Here’s to more years being a blogging barefoot gal! 🙂 (Also, Eeyore says thanks!)
-Megan B

Huggies, who made the post, would like to thank Diamond for letting him post on her blog, his cousin Cherry for gathering all the recipe ingredients for him, and all of you for being kind enough to vote for us. DIY S’mores is a great tutorial! I posted a lot of tutorials this summer during Camp, but that one may have been one of my favorites. I’m very grateful for this award, and I also wanted to say that I’m glad to be tied with Clara! She’s an awesome blogger, and her tutorial was wonderful!

JO @ PANANAW!!!
*Confetti flies* Congratulations Jo! You won the Blog of the Year Award!! I’m so happy and excited for you! *hands trophy over*
And now, for Jo’s speech! Unfortunately, we don’t have a speech from her this year, but here’s her inspiring speech from last year’s awards when she won Best New Blog.
”Wait, what?
I won?
I actually won an award?
Oh my word, I can’t believe it.
Thank you people for deciding I had the best new blog of 2018. I’m so shook right now. I can’t believe that a whole bunch of you thought I was good enough to be nominated for an award. Thank you so much to my parents, for letting me have a blog, to my brother and sister for inspiring me to start one, to Gracie M, Clara, Rebekah, and Enni for encouraging me to keep going, to my bell pepper plant for being the source of my inspiration, to my laptop for not shutting down on me, to every single one of you who voted, to my fellow nominees, you deserve this more than I, and finally and most importantly to God for giving me the gift of blogging.
We have the amazing freedom of speech, of expression, and of marshmallows. Let’s use that freedom to build each other up and make someone smile this year!” – Jo
*wipes tears from eyes* Thank you so much for that speech last year, Jo! You totally deserved this award!
And that’s a wrap for the Emmie Awards 2019! I hope you all have a wonderful year in 2020. Here’s to new beginnings, new memories, new experiences. Here’s to 2020!
And remember, even if you didn’t win or get nominated for an award, I want to remind you that you are an incredible, amazing blogger, and that the Emmie Awards are meant as a fun way to discover new blogs. Congratulations to everyone!
