Hey daydreamers! How has everyone been this week? I meant to get this post up last week, and then life happened… lol. School and dance are back in full swing, so back to balancing blogging with all that!
Recently I put up a survey asking for your thoughts about the blog and general and also for some post ideas, and a bunch of you guys requested more book-related posts, so here we are! I haven’t done one of these in years, plus I’ve been getting back into reading recently. So I’m super excited for this one! I’ll be sharing some books I’ve loved that I recommend for y’all to read ASAP, so let’s get right into it!
Hey daydreamers! Happy Easter, everyone! As I’m writing this, it’s currently still Easter Sunday and I have no idea if I’ll get this post up by the end of the evening, but oh well. It’s definitely been a different Easter than normal for all of us, and even though we’re camping in our backyard instead of the beautiful state park and we’re watching church from our couch instead of at the service it still doesn’t change the fact that Jesus has Risen. 🙃
My mom always makes these cute and fun Easter baskets to give to us every year (thanks Mom!) and this year, one of the things I got was the book 100 Days of Sunlight by the insanely talented Abbie Emmons! Since I didn’t get a post up yesterday on Saturday like I was supposed to, I decided to post a review of this wonderful and amazing book that I devoured in one sitting. Let’s get straight into the review! ⤵⤵⤵
When 16-year-old poetry blogger Tessa Dickinson is involved in a car accident and loses her eyesight for 100 days, she feels like her whole world has been turned upside-down.
Terrified that her vision might never return, Tessa feels like she has nothing left to be happy about. But when her grandparents place an ad in the local newspaper looking for a typist to help Tessa continue writing and blogging, an unlikely answer knocks at their door: Weston Ludovico, a boy her age with bright eyes, an optimistic smile…and no legs.
Knowing how angry and afraid Tessa is feeling, Weston thinks he can help her. But he has one condition: no one can tell Tessa about his disability. And because she can’t see him, she treats him with contempt — screaming at him to get out of her house and never come back. But for Weston, it’s the most amazing feeling: to be treated like a normal person, not just a sob story. So he comes back. Again and again and again.
Tessa spurns Weston’s “obnoxious optimism”, convinced that he has no idea what she’s going through. But Weston knows exactly how she feels and reaches into her darkness to show her that there is more than one way to experience the world. As Tessa grows closer to Weston, she finds it harder and harder to imagine life without him — and Weston can’t imagine life without her. But he still hasn’t told her the truth, and when Tessa’s sight returns he’ll have to make the hardest decision of his life: vanish from Tessa’s world…or overcome his fear of being seen.
100 Days of Sunlight is a poignant and heartfelt novel by debut author Abbie Emmons. If you like sweet contemporary romance and strong family themes then you’ll love this touching story of hope, healing, and getting back up when life knocks you down. AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE
I read this book in practically one sitting. Most of it I read outside, feeling the sunshine on my face, the warmth of the beautiful Easter spring day enveloping me…ahh, it was the best feeling. 😌 And add on an absolutely amazing, fluffy contemporary book filled with cute characters, ukeleles, blogging, waffles, and the color yellow? YES PLEASE! 💛
From the first page, I was captivated by the story. It goes on to follow Tessa, who’s lost her sight for 100 days, and Weston, who’s determined to show her that there’s beauty in other things besides sight. But then they start falling for each other, and Weston’s afraid she’ll stop treating him like a normal person if she figures out his secret.
First off: I loved (most of) the characters! Weston was my absolute favorite. He’s such an amazing big brother and he makes amazing waffles and is “obnoxiously optimistic” and plays the ukelele. And for some reason, I kept picturing his character as Joshua Basset (except with no legs) the whole time. 😂
I didn’t like Tessa that much at first, and I definitely preferred reading Weston’s chapters a lot more. Especially because sometimes she would write like this:
i
a m
d r o w n i n g.
It was slightly annoying at first, but then I grew to love her character more and more as the story progressed. It was so cool to “see”, or rather hear, touch, smell, and taste the story and the world through Tessa’s eyes, even though she was blind. And she was so relatable: she’s a writer, has a blog and a super amazing and supportive group of blogging besties, and she writes poetry!
I didn’t care for the character Rudy that much, but I adored Weston’s little brothers and Tessa’s grandparents! And her grandpa’s church and her grandma’s concern for her and Weston’s brothers who literally think he’s a superhero. I loved them all! 💛
Second, the story was amazing! I don’t read very many YA contemporaries (I normally read MG contemporaries or YA fantasy/dystopian), so I was a little worried about the plot going nowhere. It turned out to be a super solid and thoughtful plot, showing the relationship between Tessa and Weston go from hate-to-love with amazing flashbacks to Weston’s past sprinkled in at the perfect moments, and ahh, it was such a cute story! I especially love how it was separated into sections of smell, sound, taste, touch, and sight.
And that cover – I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover and everything, but seriously, I can’t stop admiring the cover and all of its gorgeousness. And every little adorable artwork has something significant to do with the story, and you appreciate it so much more after reading the book! At first, I thought the cover was beautiful, but after reading it I was like, “And those are the waffles, and there’s her laptop, and that’s the polaroid camera, and ASFDKASLKDFJ; THAT’S THE YELLOW UKELELE!” The yellowness and aesthetic of it is so gorgeous, and I love the cover so much I ended up taking a ton of aesthetic-looking pictures in the backyard with it. XD
Content: I was very surprised when the characters would swear out of nowhere. One of my main complaints about the book was that sometimes they would say curse words (it wasn’t terribly frequent, thankfully, and I guess it was technically a YA book, so 🤷♀️) Also, there were one or two scenes where Weston and Rudy would fight, but it was always a sort of game and it wasn’t described in horribly violent detail or anything. There was also a very brief scene where a creepy dude harasses the main character, Tessa, by grabbing her wrist.
Overall: This book was so incredible! It was a cute, romantic, and poignant read that left me thinking about beauty and made me appreciate the sights I see around me in a whole new way. 10/10 recommend this book and I 11/10 recommend reading it on the porch with a refreshing drink and lots of sunshine. 😉
Whatdduya know, I finished this by tonight! I hope you guys check out the book because I loved it and think you will, too. Have a happy Easter everyone! Christ has Risen!
Have you ever read this book? Isn’t Abbie Emmons amazing? Do you love waffles? Opinion on the color yellow? Did you like the photos I took? What did your family do for Easter today? (We did online church, Easter baskets, an egg hunt, and me and my sister are going to go camping in our backyard tonight!)

Hey daydreamers! Merry (late) Christmas! I’m sorry my posts have been kinda all-over-the place this month so far. I’ve been crazy busy with filming my stop motion, traveling, dancing in the Nutcracker, and the Emmie Awards that I haven’t really had time to post something that wasn’t Emmies-related or a reblog!
Now that Christmas is officially over (waaaaah!!!!), I finally have some time to sit down and write a post! Today, I thought I’d share with you some of the things I got for Christmas. I’m really grateful for everything I got (and I’m not trying to brag or anything, I just thought you guys might like this post since you enjoyed my other hauls!)
Enough rambling/disclaimers/excuses – let’s jump right in!
First I got this cute little cookie kit from my Aunt! I love the llama on the front (and y’all know how much I LOVE LLAMAS). The cookie even has a little slit in it so you can put it on your mug. How cute is that? I haven’t tried it out yet, but it looks fun!
I also got 12 Before 13 by Lisa Greenwald, which is the sequel to my favorite fiction book ever, 11 Before 12 (besides the Hunger Games lol), from my aunt! I’ve already read it (haha) and it was soooo good. This series is my favorite!
Then I also got the third book in the series, 13 and Counting! I’m in the middle of this one right now and it’s really good so far! Kaylan and Ari are amazing characters, and I still can’t decide who I like better.
Now I have the whole series, yay!
I also got the third book in Maddie Ziegler’s series, The Competition! I’m obsessed with these books and I love Maddie, so I’m really excited to read this.
Lastly, I got the young readers edition of Misty Copeland’s autobiography, Life In Motion. I’ve read the non-adapted version and really loved it! The cover is so pretty on this one…Misty Copeland is my favorite ballerina. And that’s it for the books!
Why does my wall literally look gReEN in this picture?? The creepy thing is, this used to be the EXACT COLOR of my walls :-O
Next category: dancewear! My grandma took me shopping at the dance store that I got my pointe shoes at, and I got some leos there. The first one is this royal blue spagetti-strap, which is my level color so I can wear it in class! It fits perfectly and feels really comfortable.
I also got this cute black one! Since it’s not my level color, I can only wear it on Saturdays/Sundays and during rehearsals. I really love the thick black straps and the cut on this one! It’s super comfy too.
And last but not least of the dance stuff, I got new ballet shoes! I’ve had leather ballet shoes for quite some time now, and they were getting really dirty and old and gross. The leather was really annoying me, and all of my friends had switched to canvas shoes a million years ago! So I decided it was definitely time to switch to canvas and I’m soooo glad I did – they’re so much easier to point your foot in, and they’re really comfy and make turning a lot easier.
Next, some clothes I got from my mom! I’m OBSESSED with my new Simply Southern tie-dye hoodie. It’s SO COMFY ahhhhh! Every time I put this sweatshirt on, I literally start getting SLEEPY because it’s so comfy!
I also got this pink llama long-sleeve t-shirt from Simply Southern! Isn’t the llama so cute?
Then I also got this volleyball one, also from Simply Southern, but short-sleeved.
Moving on to some random stuff! I got another Hydro Flask, but this time a light blue, and it’s 8oz. I like how it’s so much smaller and lighter than my other giant one (it’s like 30oz!)! I love my giant one but it doesn’t fit in any cup holders, which is annoying, and it’s really hard to carry around. This one I can just stick in my backpack and be on the go!
I also got these cute grey Nike sneakers. All of my shoes are either super girly or trendy (like my pink slip-ons, black high-heel boots, and white Adidas sneakers), but these tennis shoes are more athletic. They’re super comfortable!
I also got some fun scrunchies in my stocking! Fun fact: I own 14 scrunchies after this. Which is nothing compared to my friends: one of them has over 60 and my BFF accidentally got 181 in packs from Amazon!
Oh, and I got these body butters from my aunt. The olive and coconut ones definitely smell the best! They feel really smooth on your skin. I haven’t really used them much, but they’re sooooo fun to smell *inhales scent*
Then my little sister got me this 2020 calendar from the Dollar Store! Isn’t it cute? 😛
I also got this calligraphy set from my Grandma! I didn’t show the whole kit here, but there’s also a ruler, t-square, and some fountain pens. The only problem is the instructions don’t exactly tell you how to put the cartridges into the fountain pens, so I’m having trouble getting started….😂
My mom also got me this cute pink purse from Franchesca’s, and I’m obsessed with it! I love the chevron pattern, and the color is my favorite, and the material feels really nice.
I got the Amandarachlee Doodle Planner from my mom and I’m so excited!! I got the pink (of course) and it’s so, so cute. I’m really excited to use it!
I got my first pair of Kendra Scott earrings from my aunt!! *squeals* I’m so excited to finally have Kendra Scott! All my friends and our moms are obsessed with it. I got these really cute bronze/gold ones that are in between dangles and studs, and I’m obsessed with them.
And second-to-last, I got…an Apple Watch! This one is Series 3, I believe. It’s silver with a white band from my Grandma! I really like it because I can play music, do workouts, track steps, check email, respond to texts, and see my blood sugar on it!
And finally…I GOT MY FIRST MAKEUP KIT!! I was so excited to open this on Christmas morning! It comes with three tiers of different makeup stuff: the first one has a bunch of different eyeshadows and some eyebrow cream, then the second has bronzer, blush, and highlighter, and the third has lip and brow pencils along with some lipstick and stuff like that.
Lastly, I got some brushes, a beauty blender, eyeshadow palate, and lip gloss. I’m really excited!
Whew! That was long. High-five to you if you read the whole thing! I hope y’all enjoyed taking a look at what I got for Christmas. Once again, I’m not trying to brag or make anybody feel bad, I’m just sharing something with you that I thought you guys would like to see!
See ya on New Year’s Eve for the grand reveal of the Emmie Awards winners!
What did you ask for Christmas?

Hey guys! So my birthday is coming up in exactly 19 days, so I’m trying to start thinking about what I want to ask for – which is super hard this year, because I’m past the stage of flipping through toy catalogues and circling stuff, but I feel guilty asking for super expensive stuff like a new laptop.
So after a whole lot of thought, Amazon searching, and list-making, I finally came up with my wishlist for my twelfth birthday, and I thought I’d share it on here! Let’s get started!
PHOTO COLLAGES: Made by me, Emmie, with Canva. Images from Google, Amazon, Redbubble and Canva.
» HydroFlask
Pretty much every single girl at my school has one of these trendy water bottles, and I think they’re super cute and I love all the different colors they come in! I’ve also been wanting to start a sticker water bottle, so this is perfect! I would probably get it in white with a straw cap.
» Stickers!!
This goes with the last one: stickers for my HydroFlask! There’s this website called RedBubble that has a bunch of cute ones. I would want to get a lot of colorful VSCO girly ones (lol), since my HydroFlask would be white. I like the ones that come in sets of one color, like pink or yellow!
» Electric Toothbrush
Okay, I know this sounds like the lamest birthday gift ever, but I really need a new toothbrush – I’ve had my electric toothbrush since I was seven or something and it’s super gross, plus the brush head falls off constantly! I really like this toothbrush from Quip, plus they send you new brush heads and toothpaste every three months! I definitely need this one!
» Silk PJs + Pillowcase
Did you know people spend about 26 years of their lives sleeping? (So says Google, at least.) So it’s pretty important to have good sleepwear! Silk is great for your skin and sleep, plus I’ve heard it’s pretty comfy! This is definitely a big item on my wishlist.
» Shoes!
I think it would be fun to get some white Converse or maybe rose gold tennis shoes for my birthday! I pretty much have two closed-toe shoes that actually fit and I can wear to school, plus my slip-ons are getting pretty dirty!
» Letter Board
I already have a marque board with one row, but I think it would be fun to have a letterboard that I could hang on my wall and write different messages on!
» Fitness Watch
My old fitness watch is pretty beat up (also, pretty sure I lost it) so I think it’s time for a new one! It doesn’t necessarily have to be a FitBit (although that would be pretty cool!), just something cute and functional!
» Nail Polish
I definitely want to get back into painting my nails more, but I only have 3 good colors! This would definitely be fun for my birthday since I’m planning to have a spa-themed party! I think the colors in this picture would be cute.
» Jeans
I definitely need a few pairs of jeans! I only have 1 that fits me right now, so it would be nice to have a couple more. I think light wash would be cute, maybe some with rips or cuffs!
» Journal + Pens
In my opinion, you can NEVER have enough journals, lol! When I finish my current diary I usually like to have another notebook ready for me to start. I like spirals with aesthetic designs! I also would love some pens; I got the cutest ones from Eccolo Ltd. for Christmas last year, but they all died out!
» Brush Pens + Calligraphy Book
This sorta goes with the one above! I’ve been wanting to get more into calligraphy, and I think a handlettering book would be super helpful getting started! I know how to do a few fonts, but unfortunately I lost all of my brush pens…
» Books!
Of course, I have to have books on my wishlist! A few titles I’ve been wanting to read: Girl On Pointe by Chloe Lusiask, The Competition by Maddie Ziegler, and 12 Before 13 by Lisa Greenwald!
Thank you so much for reading! I hope you guys liked taking a peek at my 12th birthday wishlist – plus, this is a super great gift guide if you’re looking for birthday present ideas for 11 and 12 year old girls!
What’s on your wishlist? Did you like the collages? Which item do you like most? When’s your birthday?
