Summer Hairstyle Ideas! (Part 1)

Hey daydreamers! Lately I’ve been obsessed with trying out different ways to style my hair. During the school year, I mostly just wore it down and occasionally would do something with it. As part of my summer bucket list, I thought it would be fun to learn some new hairstyles that I can do throughout the summer and for the upcoming school year!

Today I’m going to be showing y’all a few super summery, cute, and easy hairstyles that only take a few minutes to do! I’ll try my best to explain the steps, but some of these are easier done than said. 😛 Let’s get into the hairstyles!

Scrunchie Hairstyle Tutorial + Giveaway ft. TwoFifty Scrunchies!

UPDATE: You can now use my code EMMIE20 at checkout to get 20% of your purchase from TwoFifty Scrunchies through August!

‘ello Daydreamers! (Haha, sorry, at camp we talked in a British accent 90% of the time and now I’m pretty much stuck that way. 😂) Anyways, I’m BACK with a super-special post for you guys! Today, I’m going to be showing you a *super cute* scrunchie hairstyle, featuring scrunchies from my friend Natalie’s brand new Etsy shop, TwoFifty Scrunchies! Stay tuned until the end for an amazing giveaway!

First off, I want to give a HUGE thank you to Natalie for sponsoring this post! Natalie runs TwoFifty Scrunchies, where she sells handmade and super affordable scrunchies! I’ve had a hard time finding low-cost scrunchies that are actually good quality – you can get them in bulk from Amazon, but they’re super flimsy and low-quality. On the other hand, some handmade scrunchies can be upwards of $10! Natalie’s scrunchies are not only handmade, incredible quality, and super cute, but they’re only $2.50 apiece and even less when you buy a pack!

Today I’m sharing a fun hairstyle using Natalie’s scrunchies! If you know how to Dutch or French braid, this should be a no-brainer, and if not, don’t stress! I’m awful at Dutch braiding on myself and this technique makes them look super good!

I love the look of beach waves, and I think they look so summery and carefree and also just really cute.

I’ve been spending a lot of time on Pinterest lately (if you want some inspiration, you can check out mine!) and I stumbled across this cool hair hack. I decided to give it a try, and I’m going to be showing you guys how to do it today! It looks adorable for pictures and video calls. Let’s get straight into the tutorial!

Double Review: Francesca’s Scrunchies + $25 Curling Iron!

Hey guys! First off, I’m so happy that you guys liked my March Lookbook post! I’m hoping to make more fashion posts like that and start posting more of that kind of format/style. 🙂 Today I’m going to be reviewing some scrunchies from Francesca’s that I got last weekend (two weekends ago by the time you’re reading this!) and I’m OBSESSED with them, lol! The other product I will be reviewing is $25 curling iron that my mom got for me (I believe she got it from Amazon).

Oh, and before we get started I want to say a HUGE thank you because WE REACHED 100 FOLLOWERS!!! *confetti flies everywhere* Eeeeeep, I’m so happy and excited, thank you so much! It means the world to me that so many of you guys would take the time to actually read my posts and then decide to follow along. THANK YOU! Hopefully, there will be a very exciting surprise coming late April to celebrate, so stay tuned! 😉

**Quick disclaimer: This post is not sponsored!** Let’s get right to it, starting with the scrunchies!

SCRUNCHIES

They come on a cute little paperboard cutout that can be used for storing them, which is great! When I first saw these, I fell in LOVE with the colors (blush pink is my thing, lol!) and they’re so, so soft.

The elastic is super strong yet just stretchy enough! Ahh, I’m still dying over those gorgeous colors. These scrunchies are just amazing quality – when you buy them off of Amazon, usually the elastic is super loose and flimsy, the fabric is weak, and there’s not a scrunch to it. It’s worth it to pay those few extra dollars and the quality be 100x better!

They hold super well in your hair – unless you’re going to be working out or doing something crazy active, they’ll stay in without using a hair tie under it. My hair is super thin, fine, and slippery, so I have to wrap it around three times for it to stay, but if you have super thick hair you could *maybe* get away with two!

There are 5 scrunchies in white, beige, bubblegum, rose pink, and maroon for $14.99! I definitely think it’s worth the price (in-store, they even had a buy-1-get-1-free deal so I got one for my friend’s birthday!), and I would 10/10 recommend these awesome quality scrunchies! You can get them here (once again, not sponsored lol).

hoson curling iron

First off, it comes with a handy-dandy instruction manual, and of course the curling iron itself! It also has a nice cord (more on that in bit). It comes in four sizes: 1/2 in, 3/4 in, 1 in, and 1 1/2 in. I’m pretty sure I have the 1/2 inch – as I mentioned above, my hair is pretty long but reeeeally fine and thin, so I needed a smaller one. It has a convenient little rubber tip and a wire stand to prop it up when setting it down or heating, and the handle part is plastic (I think?).

It has some nice on/off buttons with buttons that allow you to adjust the temperature and even a little screen to view how hot it is, which is super nice and a lot more than you’d expect from a $25 curling iron! It can heat anywhere from 175 to 400 degrees (Fahrenheit).

It also comes with this unnecessary glove that’s way too big and makes my thumb look a thousand miles long, lol!

The cord is super thick and long, and it rotates 360 degrees on the iron so the cord never gets in the way!

Here’s a peek into the instruction manual (which is incredibly detailed for a curling iron, by the way). It gives you some technical info plus a sort of anatomy, and also some examples of “results” (which I’m pretty sure weren’t done with this iron and actually by professional hairstylists, but, oh well.) 😂

Alright, let’s try this out! I heated it to 275 degrees, but I recommend at least 300.

Lol ignore the fact that I’m wearing 3 scrunchies at once 😂

It’s really easy to use, and this is my first curling iron ever, so after a little bit of my mom helping me, I think I got the hang of it!

And that’s the final result! It creates some nice waves. Tight curls usually don’t stay, but that might just be my fine hair and my lack of using hair spray. The result is cute and easy, I totally recommend this inexpensive curling iron for easy results!

Thank you so much for reading this post! I had fun making it, and I hope you had fun reading it, too. Stay safe, healthy, and happy, and expect more posts soon since I’m stuck at home and have nothing better to do! 😂😂😂

Do you like scrunchies? Do you ever shop at Francesca’s? Which color is our favorite? What curling iron do you use, and would you ever use this one? What have you been doing during the quarantine?
