10 Funny & Inspirational Letter Board Ideas For Teens & Tweens!

Hey daydreamers! I recently got a letter board for my twelfth birthday, and I’m obsessed with writing tons of funny and random phrases on it every single day. Plus, I love how the letters are all sorted out in an organizer!

But when searching for ideas on what to put on my letter board, almost every post I found was on some mom-blog with ideas like “Raising Kids is a Walk in the Park…Jurrasic Park” and “#MomBrain”. So I decided to create this list of 10 letter board ideas that teens and tweens will actually get – some of them are funny, some are inspirational, and hopefully you’ll enjoy them! A few I made up myself, found around the internet, or were inspired by funny shirts and phrases.

I didn’t have a cupcake, so here’s a muffin pre-miracle! 😜 This one is super funny, and this picture also turned out pretty cool! It’s also a little inspirational. Feeling like a muffin? Dream big: be a cupcake! 😉

This one is super cute, and perfect for Thanksgiving (which is coming up sorta soon ahhh what happened to October)! The letter board I had also came with a bunch of cute cursive words, plus some emojis, so that’s how I came up with this! Also, you get a view of my extensive scrunchie collection, haha. I’m debating on doing a post on that…

So true! I pretty much am thinking about everything and anything at any given moment – unless it’s Friday. Then my mind is totally focused on the weekend! 😂 I like the colorful tab sticky notes and keyboard in this picture!

And of course I had to do a few ballet-themed one! Featuring my gorgeous new pointe shoes…😍 For like a week I literally had a countdown until my first pointe shoe fitting with this on it!

YESSSS. Something every tween/teenager can relate to – the horridness of math! Featuring my math homework, lol… We’re currently doing a lot of integers, square roots, and pre-algebra stuff…😬 Send help and tacos for when I have to do homework tomorrow!

Speaking of tacos… 🌮 🌮 🌮 Impressed by the fact I used an actual taco in this picture? 😂 We had Torchy’s for lunch and I had some leftovers…so here you go! I was inspired by this T-shirt my mom got at a taco place in Arkansas, haha. (Also it just occurred to me I spelled emotions wrong…oops lol)

Literally every tween and teen’s essential resource: WiFi. And when it’s loosing its motivation, you’ve gotta share some encouragement, right?

Get it? Translation: You Only Live Once! Just kidding, be right back. Laugh out loud! -Jesus And it’s actually true – Jesus is coming back again! (Anyone notice I had the Bible opened to John 3:16?)

Another ballet one! I really love the white tutu in the background. That pointe shoe isn’t actually one I use – long story short, I got it from a gift shop at a Nutcracker production a few years ago, and you were supposed to have the performers sign it…but I decided it would look cute in this picture! (Also, in case you’re not a dancer: These are ballet steps, which are French.)

And finally, a cute and encouraging message! I love the star and moon emojis in this, and the simple gold necklace looks really pretty against the black felt of the letter board. This is definitely one of my favorites!

And that’s it: ten letter board ideas for teens! This post might have been a little shorter than usual, but it took FOREVER to take the pictures for this…but I hope you guys enjoyed! Also, look at me being productive and writing this on a Friday…😎

If you liked this post, make sure to check out Hannah’s creative fall-themed letter board post over at TheStripedPlaidCo! Her photography is so amazing – thanks for inspiring me to make this post, Hannah!

And remember: “Raising Kids is a Walk in the Park…Jurrasic Park.” 🤣

my twelfth birthday // scrunchies, sugar, and shopping!

The night before, I was so excited, I couldn’t even sleep. I kept waking up in the middle of the night, so excited for the day ahead that my mind wouldn’t turn off and just go to bed! But finally, morning came – and I woke up to the sound of my family singing the Happy Birthday Song.

Chewy also helped wake me up – haha! He’s so cute. I was so tired, but I couldn’t stop smiling!

My mom made this adorable set up with all of my presents and huge, golden “12” balloons!

Sorry this picture is a little blurry! Me, Unicorn, and Chewy checked out the presents before I started opening them.

Guess what? I GOT AIRPODS!!! I’m actually listening to them as I write this! I was sooooo excited and suprised to get these, and apparently so was Unicorn, since she decided to photobomb…

Chewy hung out in the piles of presents and wrapping paper, lol. I’ll definitely do a huge birthday haul post soon! I’m so thankful for all the awesome stuff I got.

But before I knew it, it was time to head to school! I’m the one in the back with my eyes closed, and Taylor is the other blonde one behind Barkleysblog123, the girl in the light grey hoodie, and the one with lime green shoes is my friend Sarabi (Code names). Since my school is really small – like reallllyyyyy small, only 40-something kids in my entire grade, on your birthday you can pass out little treats at lunch! I decided to do a fun gift bag with skittles and scrunchies – it was so funny, the moment I opened the bag all the girls swarmed around me and grabbed their favorite colors!

Messenger Kids filter, haha

Finally, school ended! Since I was going to the mall with my friend Taylor (from this video and this video on AGW!), we waited in the church right next to my school while Taylor had a Spanish class. I set up my airpods, listened to music, and read a little while we waited.

I also had this really weird JoJo Siwa snack thing. 😂 It had nothing to do with JoJo Siwa at all – for some reason they just slapped her face on the plastic seal and called it “Lunch Kitz”? Not a fan of JoJo, but at least the graham crackers were really good.

Pretty soon, Taylor finished her Spanish class! We changed out of our uniforms and headed off to the mall.

Taylor gave me this really cute card with LLAMAS on it! Funny story: When the card is folded up, it just says “You’re weird.” So I was like, gee, thanks, but then I opened it up and read, “Just as as me.” 🤦‍♀️ I’m so smart. *sarcasm* It was hilarious!

After walking through Dillard’s, we headed to Franchesca’s and looked at all the cute jewlry and accessories they had! I also got these adorable rose gold sunglasses from there! (And yes, we’re wearing shorts and shirts in October. This is Texas, people.)

After Franchesca’s, we shopped at Justice (and had a competition to see who could make the weirdest outfit!), Vera Bradley, the Children’s Place, Claire’s, and Bath and Body Works! I took a picture of this weird dinosaur hand sanitizer holder there. We loved smelling all of the weird hand soap scents! I had an alarm set on my phone for 5:56 PM, the exact moment I was born twelve years ago, and just after it went off, Taylor found this birthday cake hand sanitizer! I thought it was destiny…and then I thought it smelled horrible. 😂😂😂

Taylor took a picture of the reflection in my sunglasses, and I edited it and added bokeh! I think this photo looks REALLY cool. It reminds me of California or summer.

The food at the Cheesecake factory was really good! I ordered the mini cheeseburger sliders and french fries. Since it was getting late, we also got a cheesecake to go that I actually still haven’t eaten yet!

Haha, this picture looks really weird! Why are my hands blurry – and what’s with the light dot on my eye? 😂 Since it was my birthday, they gave me a free dessert – a layer of brownie, with vanilla ice cream and tons of whipped cream piled on top! The whole staff sang Happy Birthday, and it was awesome!

I actually had a lot of sugar that day – I got three candies in science class, two cake pops at lunch, half a cookie in study hall, a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup for a snack, and the dessert and the Cheesecake Factory! YOLO, haha.

After that, we headed home and added stickers to my new Hydro Flask. Taylor and I watched a penguin movie and stayed up until 12:30 talking! I had a ton of fun on my birthday – it was one of the most magical days ever, and I’m glad I could share it with you! I’ll definitely be doing a birthday haul, and NEXT WEEKEND I’M GETTING MY POINTE SHOES, AHHH!

What do you like to do on your birthday? Did you read the llama card like I did? Isn’t Chewy adorable? Your opinion on JoJo Siwa? What’s your favorite store at the mall?

12 Things For My 12th Birthday // Wishlist 2019!

Hey guys! So my birthday is coming up in exactly 19 days, so I’m trying to start thinking about what I want to ask for – which is super hard this year, because I’m past the stage of flipping through toy catalogues and circling stuff, but I feel guilty asking for super expensive stuff like a new laptop.

So after a whole lot of thought, Amazon searching, and list-making, I finally came up with my wishlist for my twelfth birthday, and I thought I’d share it on here! Let’s get started!

PHOTO COLLAGES: Made by me, Emmie, with Canva. Images from Google, Amazon, Redbubble and Canva.

» HydroFlask

Pretty much every single girl at my school has one of these trendy water bottles, and I think they’re super cute and I love all the different colors they come in! I’ve also been wanting to start a sticker water bottle, so this is perfect! I would probably get it in white with a straw cap.

» Stickers!!

This goes with the last one: stickers for my HydroFlask! There’s this website called RedBubble that has a bunch of cute ones. I would want to get a lot of colorful VSCO girly ones (lol), since my HydroFlask would be white. I like the ones that come in sets of one color, like pink or yellow!

» Electric Toothbrush

Okay, I know this sounds like the lamest birthday gift ever, but I really need a new toothbrush – I’ve had my electric toothbrush since I was seven or something and it’s super gross, plus the brush head falls off constantly! I really like this toothbrush from Quip, plus they send you new brush heads and toothpaste every three months! I definitely need this one!

» Silk PJs + Pillowcase

Did you know people spend about 26 years of their lives sleeping? (So says Google, at least.) So it’s pretty important to have good sleepwear! Silk is great for your skin and sleep, plus I’ve heard it’s pretty comfy! This is definitely a big item on my wishlist.

» Shoes!

I think it would be fun to get some white Converse or maybe rose gold tennis shoes for my birthday! I pretty much have two closed-toe shoes that actually fit and I can wear to school, plus my slip-ons are getting pretty dirty!

» Letter Board

I already have a marque board with one row, but I think it would be fun to have a letterboard that I could hang on my wall and write different messages on!

» Fitness Watch

My old fitness watch is pretty beat up (also, pretty sure I lost it) so I think it’s time for a new one! It doesn’t necessarily have to be a FitBit (although that would be pretty cool!), just something cute and functional!

» Nail Polish

I definitely want to get back into painting my nails more, but I only have 3 good colors! This would definitely be fun for my birthday since I’m planning to have a spa-themed party! I think the colors in this picture would be cute.

» Jeans

I definitely need a few pairs of jeans! I only have 1 that fits me right now, so it would be nice to have a couple more. I think light wash would be cute, maybe some with rips or cuffs!

» Journal + Pens

In my opinion, you can NEVER have enough journals, lol! When I finish my current diary I usually like to have another notebook ready for me to start. I like spirals with aesthetic designs! I also would love some pens; I got the cutest ones from Eccolo Ltd. for Christmas last year, but they all died out!

» Brush Pens + Calligraphy Book

This sorta goes with the one above! I’ve been wanting to get more into calligraphy, and I think a handlettering book would be super helpful getting started! I know how to do a few fonts, but unfortunately I lost all of my brush pens…

» Books!

Of course, I have to have books on my wishlist! A few titles I’ve been wanting to read: Girl On Pointe by Chloe Lusiask, The Competition by Maddie Ziegler, and 12 Before 13 by Lisa Greenwald!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you guys liked taking a peek at my 12th birthday wishlist – plus, this is a super great gift guide if you’re looking for birthday present ideas for 11 and 12 year old girls!

What’s on your wishlist? Did you like the collages? Which item do you like most? When’s your birthday?
