A Chill Morning In My Life! (Ft. Skincare Routine)

Hey daydreamers! When I was thinking of what to post this week, I remembered that I really enjoyed making my A Day in My Life: Winter Break Edition! post for Blogmas and I thought it would be fun to show you guys a morning in my life of a Thursday homework day!

On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I go to school and take all my classes. Then on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and the weekend, I have assignments to complete that are due the next school day. These days are called “satellite classroom days”, but it’s easier to just call them homework or home days. 😛

Today I’m going to show y’all what a typical home-day morning looks like when I don’t have a whole lot of homework. 🙂 And if you like this post, don’t forget to check out my school morning routine! Let’s get right into it!

A Day in My Life: Winter Break Edition! (Blogmas Day 9)

Day 1: Nutcracker Recap

Day 2: Playlist Swap

Day 3: Blog Spotlight

Day 4: Christmas Outfits

Day 5: Nail Inspo

Day 6: Evermore Reaction, Pt. 1

Day 7: Evermore Reaction, Pt. 2

Day 8: Joy Devotional

Hey daydreamers! Christmas is literally SO CLOSE. We only have a few more days?? Like where did time even go?? Today I thought it would be fun to kind of “vlog” my day, but blog style – so I made a Day In The Life post to show you guys what a typical day looks like during winter break!

I got out of school last Wednesday after taking finals that morning, but I left for a retreat on Friday and got back on Sunday, so I’ve only had like 2 full days at home so far. So this is less a routine and more of what I do when I actually have free time. XD Let’s get into it!

9:20 – I woke up nice and late, which I’m so happy about not having to set an alarm. XD I sat in bed for a little bit, opened the window, etc. to let myself wake up a little bit. Then I went on the Bible app and did my devotion plans for that day. I’m super behind on all of mine, so I’m going to try and catch up before 2020 is over. 😉 At 9:36, I finally got out of bed.

9:45 I finished making my bed and headed into the kitchen to make breakfast.

9:55 – For breakfast, I put some waffles in the toaster and covered them in sugar-free maple syrup, lol. I also peeled a cutie to go with it. My mom made me an iced coffee with peppermint creamer, and it was super good! Thanks mom! During breakfast, I talked with my sister and mom. After breakfast, my sister and I did our Christmas tradition of finding little figures from a Nativity scene each day before Christmas (today we found the angel!) in our game room! We also challenged our parents to find it when we hid it, because they accused us of being bad at finding it haha 😂

Haha why am I staring directly into the mirror’s soul XD

10:37 – Next, I got dressed. Today I’m wearing the comfiest oversize sweatshirt ever that I got at that retreat I mentioned, my favorite black leggings, and some fuzzy buffalo plaid socks. I also put on this cute little angel necklace and some fake diamond earrings I got from Amazon for like $15 in a pack of 9. Here’s the link, I’m obsessed with it! (I think the price went up, though.)

10:40 – Next I watched On Pointe on Disney+, it’s so good! It’s a documentary following the dancers at SAB (School of American Ballet) as they prepare for NYC Ballet’s The Nutcracker. It always inspires me to stretch, so I stretched both splits and middle splits while I was watching it.

this photo turned out so cool!

11:22 – After I finished the episode, I went back into my room to work on this blog post, lol. Mainly what I’ve been doing during winter break so far is working on Blogmas, so I’ve been spending a lot time planning, writing, creating images, etc. for posts. I like to put on Christmas music while I work on these. 🙂 I got a bunch of this post done and scheduled tomorrow’s Blogmas, so I was pretty productive lol!

12:24 After that, I went and jumped on our new trampoline for a little bit! It was an early Christmas present, and I’ve been making up a cheer routine on it. I’ve got like 2 minutes of it, and I’m very proud of myself haha. It’s really fun to pretend to stunt on there, and also to do flips and jumps! My sister also joined and we did some 2-person stunts together.

1:00 – I watched the first part of the next episode of On Pointe and manicured my nails. Then my mom got back with Cane’s (yum!) so we all ate together.

1:30 – I attempted to recreate one of the photos from my nail inspo post, and it actually turned out okay! I need to clean up the edges, though. I finished up the episode while I painted them.

2:00 – This is probably the least productive part of my day, lol. I just kind of messed around on my phone and laptop, procrastinating finishing this post for about thirty minutes, which is not good for me but it’s a bad habit haha. I was feeling pretty unmotivated and tried to get some more Blogmas done, but I ended up taking a break and walking my dog instead.

3:20 – I wrapped all my Christmas gifts I’m giving to my family! Not all of them are pictured here. I used to be terrible at wrapping, but I’m getting better at it!

5:00 – After hanging out for a while, I played Minecraft with my little sister. I don’t play Minecraft regularly, but if I have a bunch of free time like on Christmas and Thanksgiving break, I always get back into it.

5:30 – I did an Anna McNulty stretching routine to help get my middle splits. I’m only an inch away from the ground! Since my New Year’s resolution was to get my middle and right splits, I’ve already gotten my right, so I figured I could try and get my middle splits before 2020 is over.

7:00 – After we looked outside at the Bethlehem Star conjoined planets thingy through a telescope (it was pretty cool!), we made these hot chocolate bombs a friend gave us. They were sooo good, super sweet! We watched Home Alone, which is one of our traditions.

9:30 – After taking a relaxing shower, brushing my teeth, and changing into PJ’s, I did my quiet time. I read a Christmas-themed devotional on the Bible app and took notes while I did it.

10:00 – I read some of my book. I finished the first few books of The Mother-Daughter Book Club series, so now I’m reading So This Is Love by Elizabeth Lim and it’s really good so far. Also, I took this picture today, so that’s why it’s light outside lol.

10:50 – Goodnight!

And that’s it for today’s Blogmas! I hope that y’all enjoyed seeing what a day in my life looks like, Christmas break-style. See ya tommorow!

What’s your favorite breakfast? Aren’t toaster waffles amazing? Do you watch Home Alone every year?Do you like Minecraft? Are you watching On Pointe? What book are you reading right now?

Nutcracker 2020 Recap (Blogmas Day 1)

On the first day of Blogmas, my true love gave to me…

Hey daydreamers! It’s finally the start of 12 days of Blogmas, and I’m so excited! I’m feeling a little bit overwhelmed, since today when this post goes up I’ll actually be taking finals, but hopefully after that I’ll be able to get the rest of the posts scheduled! I’ve never done this before, and I think it’s going to be really fun! I have a ton of post ideas lined up, with a few special guests too!

To kick off Blogmas, I was originally planning on doing a Christmas-themed giveway…but then finals and Nutcracker happened and I never got around to it. I’m really sorry, but hopefully y’all will enjoy it anyway! 😉 Today, I thought I’d do a recap of this year’s Nutcracker!

I’m a ballet dancer (obviously, based on my blog design XD), and my studio/company’s annual Nutcracker is a huge part of my Christmas and is really special to me. I look forward to it every year, and this year would’ve been my first year performing as a member of the company! Of course, COVID messed it up, and in order to safely put on the production we had to do a virtual version of our show. It was still really fun even though I missed performing!

It took a ton of rehearsals and we ended up having to push filming back, but we were finally able to film the weekend before last weekend! I was super nervous the night before. Here’s what was in my performance backpack:

  • hairspray
  • hair bag with bobby pins, pins, hairnets, hairties
  • Wet Brush
  • extra pair of company tights and an extra leotard
  • my company jacket and warm-up pants
  • company earrings
  • huge bag of stage makeup with eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow, foundation, concealer, brow product, etc.
  • light-up mirror
  • some homework to do backstage

Both days I had to wake up super early to do my hair and makeup and get there by my call time. We filmed at a fancy ballroom where people have weddings, and it was so cool: spiral marble staircases, elegant double doors, intricate tile flooring, tons of glittering chandeliers, and there were even peacocks walking around in the parking lot!

We didn’t have a normal dressing room, so we hung out in this huge bathroom that was maybe the nicest bathroom I’ve ever been in. XD There was even a chandelier in there! While we waited for our time to film, we touched up hair and makeup and hung out backstage. That part was kind of boring and made me miss the actual show a lot, since filming got really delayed and we were there from 7:00 to 4:00 and 5:00 on each day.

The actual filming part went pretty well! It was kind of stressful, because there’s so many moving parts and we couldn’t always start over since we got really behind. My feet were also dying – they were stuffed in pointe shoes for 5 hours and we danced on concrete, ouch!

I played two parts this year: a Petit Fluer (Aka little flower) in the Waltz of the Flowers, and a party girl in the party scene. It was my first time performing en pointe! We had to wear masks while we danced, which we were all super used to from filming, so that was good!

This was my party girl costume! (Taken in the fancy bathroom, lol) Both of my “big sisters” had also worn this costume when they were party girls, so that was cool! I liked the pink/peach color and it was so fun to dance in. We also had to wear these hairpieces to look like 1800s ringlets.

We had to film the party scene twice, since there were two Claras. I’ve watched the first one and it turned out pretty well, even though we had to retake it a few times! I haven’t seen the second one, though, and I randomly started doing the wrong steps and we didn’t have a chance to refilm it. That was probably the most stressful part: we didn’t have a dress rehearsal or a lot of time to prepare!

This was my costume for Waltz! The bodice/corset thing was super tight and kind of hard to breathe in, but the costume was so elegant and professional.

Filming Waltz took a lot of takes, and we had to film it three times for each Dewdrop Fairy. It was difficult to dance on the slippery/textured floor, but we figured it out and the end result was really good!

Overall, Nutcracker 2020 was definitely a different experience than normal and I really missed performing, but I had a ton of fun and the end result was really cool. Doing a virtual Nutcracker was definitely better than having no Nutcracker at all, and I’m really greateful for the experience!

I kind of liked making this type of post! It is Diary of a Daydreamer, after all, so do you think I should do more journal-entry type of posts? Or should I stick with more informative ones?

What kinds of posts do you like to see? Have you ever seen the Nutcracker? Or have you ever been in the Nutcracker? If so, what roles have you played? Are you excited for Blogmas?

my after school routine!

Hey daydreamers! You guys love my routine/day in the life type of posts and I always have a TON of fun making them, so I decided to do an after-school routine now that school’s back! Also, thank y’all so much for all of your amazing post suggestions on last week’s post, I have sooo many ideas now and I’m really grateful for your help!

Normally I do routine posts as sort of a “vlog” where I take pictures and write down what I did throughout the day, but I decided it’d be easier to write what I typically do after school and add some pictures (and Bitmojis) with it. Let’s get right into it!

My Winter Break Morning Routine // GRWM!

Hey daydreamers! It’s so crazy that it’s 2020. GUYS IT’S A NEW DECAAAADE!!!! 😛

Anyway, I thought it would be really fun to show you my Saturday morning routine, but since it’s still winter break, my mornings are a little bit different than usual. So, without further ado, my Saturday morning routine during winter break!

9:20 – I wake up around 9:15-ish, even though I meant to wake up at 8:00, but oh well. 😂 My alarm doesn’t go off or anything, I just wake up when my mom comes in and opened my curtains.

9:24 The first thing I do when I wake up is make my bed – which does not usually happen on a regular day. Something about recording your morning for your blog post makes you extra-productive, I guess? 😂

9:30 – Then I head into the bathroom and pull my hair back into a quick ponytail with a scrunchie. The only way I could get a picture of the back of my head is to hold my phone up to the mirror…

9:31 – Then I wash my face. I just use this Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser from Kroger, and I really like it. I try to make sure to wash my face first thing in the morning, because it makes me feel productive and refreshed.

9:35 – Then I apply this moisturizing lotion, but I have this teeny-tiny sample bottle that I got for my birthday, lol! I like this lotion, and it feels really good, especially because I have dry/normal skin.

9:36 – And I also use this rose water spray after moisturizing my face, you just spritz it on and it feels really good!

9:44 – Sorry about the weird picture – I had to use the self-timer on my phone and a really tiny tripod, lol. Then I head back into my room and get dressed. Today I’m just wearing a really comfy oversized pink and grey shirt that my mom passed down to me because it was too small for her, and then some black leggings.

9:52 AM – Then I head back into the bathroom and do my hair real quick – I did my normal half-up/half-down style, and then did a really small fishtail braid and added another elastic to create a little bubble.

9:54 – Next, I do my makeup for the day. First I do my brows, and I use this light brown brow cream from my makeup kit that I got for Christmas, and I use a brow brush from the same kit.

10:01 – Then, I apply mascara. I just use a Neutrogena Healthy Lengths mascara from Kroger, and it isn’t the best mascara I’ve ever used, but it works well and looks natural.

10:04 – Finally, I apply some lip gloss. This one is from that same kit, from Ulta. It’s a little dark, so I dab some of it off with a tissue.

10:05 – Makeup done!

10:30 – Every Saturday since I was a baby, me, my dad, and little sister have been riding our bikes to a donut place that’s a few blocks away from our house. Since my dad wasn’t home this morning, my sister and I rode our bikes by ourself and bought a donut for each of us and brought it home. I got a fresh glazed that was soooo good!

And then I made myself some apple spice-flavored tea (that smells amaaaaazing) in this stormtrooper mug, because I can. 😂 This mug is hilarious. As I sipped my tea, I responded to some comments and read some blog posts.

And thus ends my Saturday winter break morning routine! I hope you guys enjoyed reading this, I had so much fun making this! See ya next Saturday!

GETTING MY FIRST PAIR OF POINTE SHOES?! | First Ever Vlog

I’ll never forget the day I found out I was getting my first pair of pointe shoes. It had been a long, crazy, horrible day, and I was feeling so stressed and frazzled when I walked into the studio, I couldn’t remember where to put my bag. I was pretty suspicious, though – there was supposed to be a parent meeting that day. And that could only mean one thing!!

My mom and I walked into the studio to find my class huddled in a circle around my teacher. She handed us each a packet that read-

Dear Emmie*,

The image of dancing on pointe as effortless is a mere illusion. Much energy and skill is required to assimilate hundreds of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bones to rise up and dance on pointe. Many dancers have impatiently waited for their first pair of pointe shoes only to be shocked at how difficult dancing on their toes can be. the results of such misunderstanding can lead to frustration, disappointment, and in some cases, injury.

As you begin your pointe study, please be aware that it is a privilege that is accompanied by significant responsibility.

1. Your attendance to each class is imperative.

2. You will be required to dance in the summer to maintain your sill and strength. If you don’t dance at least 4 weeks in the summer, you will not be able to return to pointe study at the beginning of the next fall term.

3. Don’t work at home in your pointe shoes on your own, as you may develop improper habits. Be patient and endure!

*Not what the letter actually said, obviously, it said my real name lol.

As soon as I saw the packet, I knew – it was real. It was actually happening. I was going to get my pointe shoes! And after 3 weeks of waiting, the day of my first pointe shoe fitting had finally come.

Hey guys! Today I’m doing something a little different – I decided to make a vlog about my first ever pointe shoe fitting! I filmed the entire day, from waking up, heading there, the actual fitting (sort of), and when I got back! I’m so excited about how this video turned out and I really hope you guys will like it!

I really hope you guys enjoyed! I’m so sorry this video is SUPER late, but that’s because this took so long to edit and upload, plus I’ve been busy with dance and school so I haven’t had time to actually type this post up.

Do you have pointe shoes? Opinion on microwave mac-and-cheese? Have you ever danced before? How far can you go on your splits? Who’s your favorite YouTuber?
